Secrets from your kitchen!

So, I just got done fryin' up some batter dipped pork chops :yum: :fat: .

And I was wonderin if yous soak your meat in Texas Pete the night before frying, or if its just around these parts.
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

We eat very little fried meat. Mostly chicken, baked or grilled. We also love fish on the grill.....very californian, I know.

You love to cook don't you? I don't eat too much fried stuff, but when I was little my mom used to fix almost everything that way. My arteries are probably hard as a rock.lol She never soaked the pork in Texas Pete, but my grandmother who made the best fried chicken ever used to soak the chicken in water all day before frying. I don't know what spice she used, but it was so damn good. Better than that KFC shit. She's gone now, so I can't ask her what she did. sad

Branch out and try all sorts of different cooking oils - I like coconut and flax oil

Yes organic farm fresh brown eggs do have more flavor thumbs up!

Try making your own Jam or Jelly it's easy and fun

thank you and have a nice day lol

Every time I see my mom, which is only about twice a year. She makes my favorite childhood dinner. Fried pork tenderloin, Rice with home made gravy, and green beans. MMMMM.

It's a good thing I only eat it twice a year, because it is sooooo bad for you.

Every time I type a response to your posts I get almost all the way through and realized I haven't written in paragraphs. lol Then I go back and separate it out.

My Mom, god bless her soul. Was the worst about frying everthing! She use to batter cauliflower, and deep fry it!! She's serve on the side of whatever fried meat she was giving us for dinner.

I hear ya. I feel like I'm making a buffet every night. My wife and I will eat one thing and maybe one of the kids, then the other two will have to eat something else since they won't eat what we're having. confused

It was much easier to prepare meals before the kids came along. lol

The reason I do not do that is, when I was growing up..my Mom made us eat what was on the table or cereal. I always hated that hated that with a vegence, I felt deprived... poor little me, even. one step away from little orphan friggen annie. So, I promised myself as a kid to never do that.

good lord, I can understand where you are coming from...for the most part, hubby and I and my 2 children basically eat all the same things, (cept Hamp, he hasn't learned to appreciate veggies..just yet, some, but not all)..but then the weekends that we have hubbys kids, good grief, one has decided to be vegetarian, the others, either wont eat onions, won't eat spaghetti sauce cause it has onions in it, won't eat tomatoes, won't eat this and that, we finally had to say "ya know what, if you don't want what we're having, fix yourself a sandwich or something" I cannot ( am not) fix 3-4 different meals constantly...I would never get out of the kitchen...Thank goodness for easy mac and pizza rolls...I know that sounds bad, and it's not nutritious, but wth??

..yeah, we went through that too..had to eat everything on our plate, or do without...there wasn't anything else that was an option..eat it or else..and I promised myself that if there were certain things my kids just did not like
I wouldn't force them to eat it, and I won't, but I'll give them the option of either having more of something they do like, or they can pick out things they don't ( like if they don't like peas in a mix of veggies) they can eat everything thing except, if that makes sense. And I won't let them barely eat any dinner and then load up on a desert and no sweets before dinner either ( I know..I am such a hitler!..lol)
