It's like when music critics say that a new Prince album is like an older one. Yeah, there are similarities, but what it boils down to are songs. The newer NIN songs are less rememerable than the older ones.

You can listen to PHM a couple of times and know every song on it, but I've heard Year Zero several times over now, and can barely tell you the songs on it. It does "feel" like PHM to some extent, but the songs aren't even close.
