I had my first tattoo in June 2007, which is a Prince symbol on my lower back. I got it because I love Prince of course. I was thinking about getting one done 4 a long time.
I am thinking about getting another one done next year, probably the Prince symbol with the rose as the circle. The rose symbol on the Get Wild perfume. I know I am crazy. Love & Peace. Get Wild.

My bleeding heart represents all of my heartaches. The Black Panther represents me and my red tribal panther represents someone I love beyond measure.

It is funny how some on the "who does NOT have a tattoo" judge those who have them. I admit- I have seen some pretty tasteless tattoo's before but for many of us- it is a symbol of our inner selves and I know those same ppl will say that tats are permanent and everyone changes over time. For me- my tattoo is something that I know I will always feel strongly about. Peace has always meant a lot to me since I was very young. Peace within my soul, my heart, my life and the world. Since the day I got it I have not regretted it. It is a part of me and a reminder of where I was at that time in my life and how far I have come since then. I did NOT get mine for art or fashion reasons...merely for myself and for the experience. We all have different tastes and opinions- that is the great part about us humans. [Edited 8/12/07 5:16am] I agree with you. All of mine have a very personal meaning to me and all represent a path in my life. I regret none of them and am glad that the marking of my life has been done in this way. I remember getting a shitty orgnote when i first posted the letters over my heart. Someone here jumped all over me and got all shitty because they thought it was my bike number and "how the hell could i put that on my body"..... The initial post got edited real quick when i pointed out it was 10 yrs since my grandfather passed and it was his service number in memory of him. We each have our own reasons for wanting to be inked and we all live with those reasons...people that make comments like "tattoos look rough" are just passing an opinion but it is also an enditement of those that have chosen to do this. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say "i think on me they would look rough" or "in my opinion i dont like them" that is fine but simply deriding ones personal choice is simply childish. It undermines the personal message that many of us carry on our skin.

Well no one yet that has seen my tat in person or in a pic has said I look rough now that I have it..... maybe they were just being kind
heheehe does not really matter to me. I guess it is important to say "some" instead of making a general statement. Some smokers look rough..some don't.. It reminds me of double standards that I hear all of the time. Like my co-worker saying she hates me because I am skinny...I sure as hell could never walk up to her and say "you disgust me because you are fat". I know a little off topic- just reminded of that lately here on the org. Kind of funny

mine are too easy.....
my first was the kanji symbol for "ronin" on my right arm...which depicts both my renegade nature AND my constant fight for redemption..... I then got my kids names tatted in kanji on my left arm (My son's name, representing my strength) and over my heart (My daughter's name....daddy's lil girl.... ) A little while later, I got an 8 1/2 x 11 tribal panther on my back....my spirit guide.....and he looks coiled, like he's stalking his prey, and that is how I operate at work..... When I went home on leave, the wife and I got somewhat matching tribal dragons on our right arms....mine is bigger than hers, and the dragon's tail sweeps down far enough to cover a small star that I should've never gotten....the dragon represents how I'm soaring now that I've freed my darkness.....somewhat.... looking to get more ink.....chief among the ideas I'm considering is what is known as "meat tags"....basically my dog tags tatted on my torso....just in case....the wife's not too down for that..... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

None of my ink was gotten lightly, especially my last one.

Mine is a butterly with the ying yang symbol on one of its wings. I got it because of my interracial relationship at the time. Not only were we different races, the ying yang represented how different the two of us were personality-wise.

In 1997 I got my first tattoo. It was a an eagle fighting a giant squid. In 1999, to honor Prince's "1999" I got the album cover from it. I finally got Prince's symbol with a snake wrapped around the circle in 2004.

Anxiety said: pretty simple: mine symbolizes being a leo (for obvious reasons) and being left-handed (which is why it's on my left arm). on an emotional level, i guess it's just something very simple that reminds me who i am, so if i ever get amnesia i can look at my tat and go "oh yeah. right. shit."
Wow! That pretty much sums up mine except it's on my left arm because I'm right-handed and didn't want anything to hinder my everyday function. Hey you never know. Oh, and it gives me more street cred of course.
