So What Are You Reading Now?

I'm loving it! I'm only 100 pages into this 1,500 page monster, but knowing how much I want to re-read the prelude is driving me forward to the end. Mann's attention to detail & philosophical approach to the mindset & motives of the characters is plausible & inoffensive...in other words, he doesn't step on the toes of the reverent.

What books have taken ahold of you lately?

Looooove Murakami. Reality is a bit of a letdown after finishing one of his books.

Have you read Kafka on the Shore? Probably my fav for the Colonel alone...

It's been so long since I've checked out Hesse...though I don't recall having good feelings about that novel. I'll have to check it out again...

I did like Magister Ludi the most.

That's just me & gardening. I only have a mind for weeding. And even at that, Michelle has to occasionally slap my wrist and say those aren't weeds!

America's political system used to be about the "pursuit of happiness." Now more and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered.

I try to read every book under the sun, but I've happily sidestepped a few. Michelle will tell me emphatically how horrendous they are...like anything Dan Brown has written. If she gets worked up that he's rolling in dough for being a total hack, I'm happy to take her word for it.

On the other hand, If I do end up with a horrible book - I can't help it. I have to finish it off.

I pretty much cruise with the testing stations. I know cardiac rhythms, shock, etc. It's just keeping up with new data on best RX and meds. The course is no indication of performance in actual situations. That comes with experience and instinct. Some things I'm reflexive in nature, like, grabbing for an ambu bag and oral airway... Particularily, when someone's not breathing.....
Better yet, recognizing a bad scenerio before you get to that point.
