18. It was my ex-girlfriends best friend, and not an experience to write home about.

I eventually hooked up with girl #1; we became fuck buddies. The only one I ever had. She's still sort of in my life. At least I get invited to all her weddings.

I have talked endlessly with them about this particular occurance in their lives and I have encouraged them to wait as long as they possibly can. I was almost 20. I chose the guy carefully -- didn't want a relationship with him, but knew he would treat me with respect and we'd still be friends afterward.

I harbored no illusions that there'd be skyrockets or anything like that. As a result, it was relatively decent and I wasn't scarred for life.

Not drunk or stupid. Not in a hurry or with somebody I didn't really like.
It was my first real "girlfriend". We took our time, played with eachother for about 6 months and talked about 'doing the do' a lot before we tried.
Then we did... it was GOOD.
