UPDATE! Stressed to the hilt, daughter is getting married!

This evening, I found out I have to plan a wedding in 7 days! That's right 7 days! The very same wedding I have been planning slowly because I thought I had until next June, but I was wrong!

My eldest daughter's fiance is being deployed next month, and they want to get married before he does. He will be gone for 4 months down in South America, then he will be home for 2 months, then he is being deployed to Iraq. confused

So now, I am trying to figure out how to put a small wedding together for my eldest child! The stress!!!!! She decided to save her big wedding dress for next August when they renew their vows, so now we have to go find a simple white dress for this coming ceremony.

So any ideas for making this day special would be great! Or if someone would just like to buy me a HUGE bottle of Jack to calm my nerves, that will help too. lol

As you all know...I am having to plan a wedding in 7 days! And so far so good. We found a place to get married! woot! I have the flowers ordered! woot! We have the cake ordered! (which is Hot Pink/Black 3 tier cake with polka dots covered in fondant! woot! Found her dress, shoes, jewerly today! woot! Found my dress! woot! Figured out the reception..which will be at our home! woot! All that is left is an outfit for my son, and my other daughter, getting my nails done, and decorations! And it's only Sunday!!!!! double woot!

Check with his commander if they can have the color guard show up at his ceremony.
It doesn't cost you anything (i don't think), and the Uniform salute always is neat to watch.

I'm not big on military weddings, but this essentially is what is happening. And hot men in uniforms are a nice touch.

Also, the base chaplin may be able to offer services for the marriage on the cheap or free, as well as being able to do the marriage vows/ceremony on base.

Yes 7 days! I have no idea what to do. My head is spinning, my stomach is in knots! But her fiance wants to make sure she is taken care of while he is gone.

She has been engaged for months now, I just thought I had a year to plan. The original plan was to get married next June. But he found out on the 6th about Iraq, and now I have to do this. eek

I agree with this. Keep it simple and casual. They can always have a bigger reception when he returns.

Buy a beautiful dress and have a beautiful day. It's about the moment, the most important people (such as immediate family) and being thankful for each day.

I truly believe and have believed for years... each day is a celebration for the purpose of life we are here to live. It seems (to me) many may not realize their purpose, however, I believe if you all can come together and appreciate the moment on this day and all days to come, that is all that truly matters, I strongly believe this.

Have a nice intimate dinner and reflect what is most important on this day. I am sure it will be a day to never forget and a bond that may last for years to come. It does not matter the $$$, but the time spent together. This goes for everyday...

Each squadron or (I forget what the Army calls it) has a booster club. Sometimes the clubs can help in funding stuff like that. It always helps if he talks to his "First Shirt" about it.

With such short notice this may help.

I'd keep it low key and throw the more lavish one when he returns. It'll be all the more celebratory then too.

And it's really best for your duaghter to do it now too before he ships off.

She'll start receiving benefits, etc. right away.

Good speed to his return.

Gosh Moni!!! I don't really have any advice, but I'm sure no matter what happens it will be fine. The most important thing is that your daughter is taken care of and that they are happy. I am a military wife myself and the healthcare we get is great. If I can help you or give you any advice just let me know! hug

nod She is stressed out as well. She has to work all week, and won't be able to do much in helping. So that is freaking her out. Sunday is the only day we can go to find a dress, because she doesn't want to wear her big wedding dress. She decided to save that one for next year. So...I have much on my shoulders, she is my baby girl, and is the first one out of my 3 kids to get married.

nod very good advice. Her Aunt offered to help me on that Friday. I am just trying to figure out when I can decorate the house, and the gazebo she is planning to get married at, and then still set up for the reception. confused
