5 gallons of Ice Cream

Is what the average American consumes per year eek

3 is Sweden and 1.5 in Israel

Oh, and according to workers at the ice cream factory, the employees could eat ice cream for free as much as they'd like.

It's pretty strange that up here in northern Europe where you'd expect people to want to warm up, the most popular dessert by far is ice cream. In southern Europe, where you'd expect people to want to cool down, the most popular desserts are things like chocolate pudding, cake and tiramisu. hmmm

I must admit though that I was tempted by the "Apollo" at the Krölle-Bölle ice cream place on Bornholm, Denmark. I took a picture when somebody else ordered it:

That bad boy had tons of soft serve ice cream in it, at least six scoops of regular ice cream, sprinkles and everything else you see in the picture. It cost around $13 US, but would have been worth it. smile

I strongly doubt that anybody actually finished one on their own. They had fun trying though, and I also saw a whole family sharing one. I would have wanted to have my picture taken eating one, but unfortunately I'd run out of time and money, plus I already had a stomach ache from a huge breakfast buffet. disbelief

Yeah, I know I eat more than that. It is my weakness too. I purposely only buy it once a month b/c if I have it it is gone very quickly. I totally think I could eat an entire 1/2 gallon if I let myself. boxed

Yeah I know... pig
