Doulas ( and others ) have been doing post natal massages for 100rds of yrs on both the new mother and the infants

I would guess that in other traditions and tribes that massage used on infants has been around even longer

It's not anything new ... really

from my experience it's a bonding time for massager and baby
not to mention it really settles them...

i'm wondering if the business teaches massage
or they offer to massage your baby for you confused

Well I'm assuming they massage the baby for you, which is part of why I think it sounds like a strange idea. Of course it can be normal for parents to massage their baby, but to send it to some kind of spa? Weird.

ahh but it could be a place where you come in and they assist you wink

instead of having to sign up for baby massage classes at the community center
during the specific weekend every fall when they offer it...

It is the latter I think, but it could be both. And I agree with you, this is part of parenting, like mach said is has been around for ages.

But in a world where people don't have time to fart themselves with dog walking companies, shopping delivery, baby massage is just another trendy thing people want to buy into.

My friend trained as a masseur, had a baby, saw the niche, trained as a baby masseur and is starting a business.

So far, I like "Infant Kneads". But, I must say, I find the whole concept kinda strange.

Actually, how 'bout "Michael Jackson's Special Baby Massage"? biggrin

I can imagine some can't be bothered doing it themselves, and mums of colicky babies will try anything. I always meant to do this, had a book about it, but the kids grew up before I got around to it boxed

That happened to my niece. sad

She went on holiday and took her Baby Born Doll. Brand new it was.
When she was on the plane, the pressure sucked the dolls head in to random proportions, and left it looking a bit fucked up really.
Poor Grace cried her eyes out, cos she had a collapsed dolls head all holiday. sad
