My older brother, Sean, is 28. And listens to Prince, and actually got me started on listening to Prince. My sister-in-law also listens to Prince, and we do the concert thing together 'n stuff. It's about the only thing we all three agree on musically...

My sister loves Prince as much as I do, but she thinks I'm a little obsessive, checking out P websites...
My brother likes Prince but in the way that one musician admires another, he only owns two cds!

Both my sisters (and mom for that matter) like Prince. Of course, they like Prince up to about Lovesexy time. My oldest sister actually took me to the Lovesexy show in '88 since I was still too young to get there on my own!

They were both older than me and basically showed me the ropes. I was in 2nd grade singing along to Dirty Mind and Controversy and the like, wheee!

They all think I'm crazy now, but it's cool. We all still sing "Sister" to drive my mom crazy.

My sister who is 16 likes some of Princes songs but she is
not into him as much as I am...she is sill stuck in the
Backstreet Boys and N'Sync stage, so I figure she will come
around one day soon.

My brother used to give me a hard time for listening to Prince. No one around me liked him. Even among my friends, I was the only person who really liked Prince's music. I was constantly taunted about it. Evenso, each day after school, I'd open all the windows and doors in my house and blast Prince's music -- from Dirty Mind to Purple Rain, and all the b-sides, extended versions, remixes, etc. When my brother got home, he'd yell "Turn that *** off!!"

Now my brother looks up to me since I've done very well with my life. He sees me as intelligent, and he's told me that when he talks to his friends about me, one of the ways he tells them how smart I am is that he tells them I listen to Prince and have "followed" Prince since I was very young when no one else did. "Oh yeah? Prince. Man, that guy's a genius!" "Heck yeah, he can play all kinds of music -- the man knows how to jam!!"

Sorry to hear about some of you others, but my brother respects me for having always appreciated Prince's genius.

One of my older sisters is the first person that exposed Prince's music to me as a kid. She had his debut album For You the year it was released. I had always loved Soft & Wet so being interested in the album was an automatic sort of thing. Then my older brother started buying every Prince album, starting from his second self-titled one on up. So all through my elementary junior high/high school years I always had access to Prince music, even if I didn't buy it. My brother was the one that took me to my first Prince gig: the Triple Threat Tour of Vanity 6, The Time, and Prince. The tour for the brilliant 1999. Staring at that inside sleeve of paintbrushes and skin did a teenage mind good ... yeahhh baybeee.

Like me, he stopped paying attention to Prince sometime in the 90s - he bought TRC upon my recommendation. The last time I asked him...which was about 8 months ago, he said he didn't have the patience for it. Said he wanted more funk and less jazz. rolleyes But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention, my older brother has stopped buying music as consistently as he did as a bachelor and/or early years of his marriage (i.e. he is now a FAT CAT). He doesn't have the enthusiasm for music in general, I guess kids and a mortgage will do that to some people (can you say COMPLACENCY and/or LIVING IN THE PAST?), and I keep forgetting to ask him lately if he gave it a try again.

This will never happen to me. Music is my livelihood. It is my only drug, and it is a need for me.

Cut moi...
