I'm still mad at the person who recommended "Chasing Amy" to me! no no no!

Also, I thought I was the only one who didn't think "Napoleon Dynamite" was witty humor that I just wasn't getting. I have a friend- a woman in her 50s- who starts cracking up as soon as U mention it. shrug

Your lies, they cut me.

I used to read everything he did. What I really like about his writing is his humor. I stopped reading his stuff though, and I don't know why.

I stopped for a long time, too, but picked him back up again. He just has so many that you start to feel they're overlapping, I think, and want to try something else.

But I think he's great, definitely better than his virtually all of his peers. He has a lot of style, and he can write in different voices if he tries, like in the Dark Tower series. And he's not limited to horror.

And his light style of writing lends itself to movies perfectly. He thinks of interesting stories that translate perfectly (well, not every time--Dreamcatcher, anyone?) to film. Not so much James Joyce or Henry Miller.

I believe that the books that he's written that have to do with things that can actually happen, translate well to film. i.e. Misery, Stand By Me

Carrie, Salem's Lot, and the Shining are the only ones that did it for me as far as film. The rest were disapointing.

No, I know cinematic trash when I see it. That film gave the genre of pulp fiction a bad name.

So there.

Seriously though, I respect your opinion. I want to know what you "DO" like from "Quentin Tarantino" and then, I will probably diregard your opinion once I hear true trash like....oh say, "Hostel". Someone told me he only penned his name down for that mockery. But, that wasn't the case. Both rendidions were a failure in my eyes and in the eyes of many others, now that I look back at the first, especially. Forgive me for I like to rant about on these sorts of subjects. smile

Top Gun right off the bat.....the movie that Tom Cruise sold his soul to the devil to get profits off of that piece of shit.....nod

The Lord of the Rings....all I say everytime that shit is on is "CRICE, get a room already, you two...." Sam and Frodo are more in love than the dudes in Brokeback Mountain.....

Babel.....WTF????? takes the whole "butterfly effect" genre to a new level of WHO CARES????

to address a few of the selections so far.....

Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, and Shawshank Redemption are excellent movies....damn what y'all say.... razz

Chasing Amy did kinda suck ass.....but I think if you watch Kevin Smith movies for what they are....comedies....you'd enjoy them a bit more.....

It wasn't overrated, but the hype machine of Hollywood had this as the next big thing in sci-fi. An overrated group of movies I have seen recently include:
