Pulp Fiction is one of the ultimate guy films, IMHO. If you're not a guy, I can see where you might not like it one bit.

Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one. I didn't get it at all.

I'll also throw Monster's Ball out there.

But by far, the worst movie I've seen in the past few year is Lynch's Inland Empire. The local hip papers tried to play it up; it was an unforgivable mess.

yeah fight club sucked.

i hate all that kind of posturing.

I found the premise to be pure nonsense--that people are such sheep that they would rally around a guy they find wrestling with HIMSELF outside of a bar.

And if that spoiled the film for anyone, GOOD. Now you won't have to see that crap.

What are people smoking these days. "Pulp Fiction" sucks? Next thing you're going to hear is "True Romance" and "Reservoir Dogs" sucked. And no, I am "NOT" saying that QT (So weird saying his initials because it sounds like "cutie" confused ) can't make a bad film. Just look at "Dawn at The Dusk" or whatever the hell it's called. Yeah, he can make some bad films, but mostly he delivers. neutral

The Shining. Relentlessly overhyped by my friends and not as good as everyone says.

Touch of Evil. Boring!!! And I love Orson Welles and black & white films. disbelief

Broken Flowers. Love Billy Murray, but this is boring shit right here.

Nope, it isn't. Nicholson's entertaining, but the film is NOT mindblowing. King's an overrated writer, too.

but now i am -- the movie changed narrative film and is epic in that regard, but what made it groundbreaking and riveting then is what now makes it look cliche and overdone.

Lost in Translation was a snooze-fest. I'd call that pretentious. Reveling in its own media hype like a fat pig in a trough full of grease.

that's exactly what I was going to say! It was like any of the most average indie movies except that it featured Bill Murray singing karaoke. And much as I like him, understated performances aren't always interesting. God, after the rave reviews, I was supremely disappointed in this one.

Not so sure about that. He's extremely popular, and respected as entertaining and prolific, but I don't think he's particularly respected as a "writer." There's not much that he's contributed to the craft of writing that anyone could really point to. And I'm a fan.

I used to read everything he did. What I really like about his writing is his humor. I stopped reading his stuff though, and I don't know why.

I stopped for a long time, too, but picked him back up again. He just has so many that you start to feel they're overlapping, I think, and want to try something else.

But I think he's great, definitely better than his virtually all of his peers. He has a lot of style, and he can write in different voices if he tries, like in the Dark Tower series. And he's not limited to horror.

And his light style of writing lends itself to movies perfectly. He thinks of interesting stories that translate perfectly (well, not every time--Dreamcatcher, anyone?) to film. Not so much James Joyce or Henry Miller.
