Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

The second and third of the matrix. Yes, I know, I should never have gone to see the third but I still had hope.

I was going to say the first "Matrix".
I didn't see it in the movies, so by the time I did see it, the effects had been done and redone, spoofed and so on....
Everyone built it up to be so fabulous! eyepop
I hated Keanu(sp?) Reeves' "acting", and Morpheus' speeches bored me to tears!
disbelief

I never finished the 2nd, and never saw the 3rd! confused

I loved the first one - I suppose because at the time it seemed to be such a fresh idea. Or possibly because I was quite keen for an alternate reality, lol.

But Keanu's acting lol you're so right. I think people actually laughed out loud in the cinema.

i agree although i don't think those two are overrated since the general
opinion seems to be that they're lame and totally stupid.

i still don't know exactly what happened with that trilogy. was it just
not good enough a story? i mean, the initial idea was just so cool but,
somewhere along the line, it turned into a trainwreck.

Good point, quite possibly in my head there were rave reviews. I was shielding myself from the truth!

I had trouble making it
through Once Upon A Time In The West
and Metropolis...

...I have a hard time with some old "classics"
like that, although there are plenty I DO like.

I always thought the humour in "Mystery Science Theatre 3000"
was just too retarded to be funny...

...like sitting through a movie with a couple of idiots talking
all the way through is supposed to be funny? But
instead the jokes are very lame.

Crash - the race one, not the accident/fucking one -- would have been a great TV movie of the week. ridiculously stereotypical profiles and nothing interesting to say about race in L.A. or the U.S.

Sling Blade -- ugggh, again, would have been a fine TV movie, but just another example of an actor playing a mentally challenged character and everyone shitting all over themselves about how great it is. bleh...

Forrest Gump -- see notes for sling blade, then make it 50 hours too long and add cheesy sentimental soundtrack and manipulation of historical images. the beginning of the end of Tom Hanks.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Face it - no one cared about the plot. We just wanted fat, drunk, bearded blokes fighting big, ugly orcs, and that's what we got. Anything else was filler and dull. Those films could have just been a sequence of fights; Helms Deep, etc and everyone still would have loved it.

fucking useless bastards, all of you. mad

agreed. nod those movies were mostly perfect imo.

so. there. biggrin

pulp fiction ill

I was going to say "Braveheart", but I change my mind.

Pulp Fiction indeed.

Some of the dialog attempted to be funny in the smug Kevin Smith way, and some of the scenes were clever. And it wasn't at all a bad film to me. But after hearing how 'awesome' it was from my friends I was kind of let down.

Braveheart was the same. I was told it was "the best movie ever made" and so forth, so by the time I saw it, I was let down.

I think all of Kevin Smith's movies blow, and Bruce Willis threatening to beat him to death in the otherwise crappy new Die Hard movie gave me the first erection I had been able to achieve in over six months.

The original Star Wars Movie.

To me it's the worst of the entire series (Even worse than Phantom Menace which itself was aweful).

Actually, the only truly good film of the series was Empire Strikes back.

I appreciate what it did for sci-fi as a genre and so forth, but Star Wars is about as overrated as you can get.

"The Deer Hunter" - WTF? Best Film? Really?

"The Godfather" - boring, IMHO. Of course, I didn't see it until last year. It was probably a much more entertaining movie when it came out 50 years ago.

The Deer Hunter is a racist piece of garbage.

It's one dimensional depiction of Asians in that film is at the very very least, unfortunate.
