I am 41, will be 42 in december!! I feel awkward because I have always been the "young one" in my family...all my siblings are 10,11 and 12 years older then me. Even my husband is 4 years older then me. Then one day I wake up and realize the "young one" is now 41! damn damn damn!! eek

i think i'm selectively age dysphoric...i usually don't feel like a 36...ahem...37-year-old. i still have lots of energy, i still love weird shit and loud music, blah blah blah whatever...but when a young'un gets on my nerves, i have no problem going into my old man authority-figure voice and giving the whippersnapper what-for. no no no!

I just DREAD the day when I'm out on the dance floor doing my thing and some of the younger folks start looking at me funny.

So far, soooo good.

I'm having a little bit of that. lol

Not that anyone's looked at me funny, but that I keep expecting them to. There's a new dance night in Mpls that I've been to twice that I absolutely LOVE but the crowd is about 8-10 years tounger than me. I hate that feeling. Certainly no one has said anything but I know they're all wondering who the old lady is hogging the speaker. boxed

Oh, don't even trip, Miggy! The youngsters probably already have, but that's because they're really good at hiding it. Just enjoy yourself--the youngsters have been staring at me from the sidelines since I was their age! wink

I am 47 but feel 37. The other day I was approached by a saleswoman and I was asked to point out my age bracket and she was totally shocked that I said between 45 and 55. She said that she thought I was between 25 and 35. I have no wrinkles or sagging jowls and very few laugh lines although the grey hairs which now seem to be coming through seem to give it all away -- ha ha ha!!!

The children keep me young they are 5 yrs and 4 yrs and I have asked my husband if we can adopt another baby - we are now seriously considering it. smile

I think I "feel" my age for the most part, but think I have little in common with most other women my age. No marriage, no kids, different goals, different hobbies, etc.
Sometimes it makes me feel as if I haven't achieved enough for the age I am. But yet I really don't have any regrets. Overall, I'm happy with the life I've lead. So whataver.
Wait, what was the question again?
lol

lol There is no right or wrong way to lead your life. Who says you have to be married and have kids to have "achieved" something in life. You are who you are and I think who you are is pretty great. biggrin

Actually there is a right way to live your life. And even if you think there's not there is definitely a wrong way to live your life so if there's a wrong then there has to be a right.....just sayin'.

The other day my managers daughter who is 17 was hanging with us and the song "Papa don't preach" came up and she thought Kelly Osbourne was the originator. She had no idea it was Madonna and then I felt old.
