We had a pain service clinic where I work, for treatment of chronic pain. You'd be surprised at the # of professionals who take high dose narcotics (long acting patches, extended release morphine). They still function and drive to work. I don't know how anyone can think straight on central nervous system depressants. There's a toleration that develops, so an increased dose is required over time. This is for chronic back pain, and ailments that aren't fixable with other treatment or surgery.
I'm talking doses that would kill an elephant. eek

Yes, I would suppose they work for them because they are adjusted to the stuff... Meds as a rule do NOT work well in my system and take days to clear out as well....

Glad to hear you're doing better. smile

When someone has a job with resposibility for others, air traffic controllers, pilots, medical personel, etc, chronic pain with high dose narcs should be considered a disability. Just for everyone's safety. confused
