Was I wrong? So I got on the bus yesterday and I had a dollar bill and 5 nickels. I put my dollar in, the machine took it. I put my first nickel in and it went into the coin slot. The machine didn't take it. So I stuck my finger in there to get the nickel and there was a bunch of change that had been rejected and about 75 cents in nickels and dimes fell on the floor. I reached in and grabbed my nickel, put it back in the machine and it took that and then proceeded to put the rest of my nickels in to make up the fare of $1.25.
Now that I put my money in, I walked over to my seat and the bus driver started flipping out and yelling why I didn't pick up the change. I told him it wasn't my money and it wasn't my job to make sure that the change that was rejected was put in the machine. He wouldn't leave till I walked over and picked that shit up and put it in the machine. OK, so my question. Was I wrong to leave that change there? It wasn't my money. Could I have been courteous? Sure. But I didn't feel like it. It was the morning and I wasn't in the mood for niceness. Am I wrong to expect that it is the drivers responsibility to make sure that the change the customers are paying is taken by the machine? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

What a bummer! Shitty mood compounded by THAT!
I don't see you as being wrong. The bus driver "flipping out" at a passenger...unprofessional for sure. You could have picked up the change out of courtesy, but should you have been made to? No, it's the bus driver's job to manage all that. He should have his meter running properly. In the end, don't spend any more time or energy on it. I hope your mood is a bit better now! I'm firmly planted in denial

You have some seriously wacky stories. Like the one of the "ass the other vagina" print out that the drive through guy saw on your dash. I don't think you were wrong. I guess it would've been nice to pick it up, but the guy coming to yell and you and forcing you to do it was a little extreme.
Hope tomorrow is a better day, but try and stop pissing people off would ya!

No, not wrong. But I think complacency and laziness in general in society has gotten out of hand. Sometimes doing something for someone else even if we are not asked can make a world of difference.
I would have picked up the change as a courtesy. Obviuosly it would have stopped him from having a coronary on the bus. Sure HE could have just said "it goes with the job" and picked it up himself...but he is a bus driver and that's not exactly the most rewarding job. Christian Zombie Vampires

Ok, first of all people need to understand my damn plight! My car is busted so I'm busing it and I am up and out of the house at 6:15 a.m. and it takes me about 3 hours of traveling to get to work. Repeat and rinse on the way home. I am spending 6 to 8 hours on the bus with my commute, not to mention working a full 8 hour day. It aint about being lazy and complacent, I'm exhausted! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It's all good. I think that perhaps you should get a job that is less of a commute. Maybe then you might have been in a better mood and less stressed! It's like all you do is commute and work. I also think a little empathy goes a long way. We certainly don't know his situation before you got on the bus. Nor does he know yours. But you were both in pissy moods and that's where the clash happened. Christian Zombie Vampires

That reminds me of a joke. You have to say it out loud, though. And you have to be old enough to remember there was a major airline called TWA. A man is on a TWA flight. The TWA stewardess asks him, "Would you like some TWA coffee, TWA water or TWA soda?" The man replies, "I think I'd like some TWA tea".
