First of all, hate barry or not, he did break the record, is it tainted? of course so, he and so many others did steroids. But the biggest crime is that Baseball didnt care because the homerun made the fans come back after the 94 strike at least thats what BASEBALL thought. The whole Mcgwire and Sosa race was on of the big things that got fans who hated baseball into baseball. GREED is baseballs biggest crime. This era is forever going to be the steroid Era and every record will be tainted pretty much. Truth is this year people are turning out to games in record numbers and guess what.....power numbers and runs scored are in a big decline, why??? Well because everyone is watdching, testing is being done, so very few are doing anything, but some still are. But if "fans" wanted power numbers how come this year when POWER numbers are way down are they turning up more than ever? Well it looks like people didnt really care about hitting homeruns to begin with, they just needed time to get back into Baseball again. The thing is that if its "proven" that anyone has done steroids i feel they should be banned from the game going forward, its really impossible to catch someone who did it 5 years ago, its really just a he said she said type thing. We all Barry and Mark and Sammy and others did it, i mean unless Barry hit puberty at 35, he def did something. BUT just because he broke a record dont compare a Hank Aaron to Barry Bonds, Bonds didnt endure what Aaron did. While Aaron was chasing the record set by Ruth, Hank and his family were followed and threatened by the KKK about breaking what they called the "white mans" record. Barry never even came close to that pressure. So it may be broken, but Hank is still the better player and person.

I actually liked what he said in response to the question about this record being the greatest in all of sports. He said he thought they were all equally great. He doesn't play golf, so how could you say what he's done is better than what Tiger Woods will inevitably do?

He's absolutely right, being the best at ANYTHING is an achievement. And steroids or not, that guy hit a lot of damn home runs off of the best pitchers available to him, who may or may not have been on steroids themselves
