I'm not going to say that the film is better than the book, but the Lord of the Rings movies are far far far better paced than the book. The book was a tedious read for me. I mean, he goes on for page after page after page with one storyline to the point where I just gave up once.

nod
i'd loved the hobbit- but struggled on thru LOTR - i was determined 2 finish it b4 i saw the movies

movies- beside being a drool fest, were fantastic, - and i even went back and reread the books after watching them (and although i enjoyed the book more on the second read- the movies-4 me- r still better)

Now, Harry Potter on the other hand shake lol
books r WAAAAYYYYY better, but producers/directors do a fine job with the time constrictions placed on them- and stay fairly true 2 the stories.
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

each to their own, but I thought that film was quite crap
and the books are masterpieces.

I agree, I hated the film, it didn't have the magic deep feeling of the book or the 70's cartoon

nod

apart from the lion, thought the cgi was pretty half-assed compared to
say, lotr... but i guess maybe less time was spent in making it... but like imago said... the kids just kind of irritated me a bit.

shrug

I agree, I love the film too. With the exception that really horrible narration throughout. Especially the narration that is just describing what was happening on screen, such as "The wolf's eye glowed red," or "His helmet was hot, so he took it off. But everything else about the film was great. Especially the sexy (from the neck down) Xerxes and Lionidas. drool

i agree, lionidas was friggin hot. drool

xerxes, though ill smile

Yeah, his face was gross, although the actor that played him is pretty hot. He got buried alive on "Lost."

nod Valid point. Essentially, the soundtrack carried the film.

Are you mad? The soundtrack was great, but the performances were spot on. A little melodramatic at times, but that film is mesmerizing from the opening scenes. In my opinion it's one of Spielberg's best films, and easily my favorite.

i don't have a problem with the acting or with the technical accomplishments in the film - the cinematography is gorgeous, for example - but i think the screenplay hardly did justice to the book, and while this may be one of spielberg's best films, i still think his direction veered on the cartoonish more than a bit.

fight club is a great book!
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
