You need 1000 calories a day just to have enough energy to do basic bodily functions.

You can't do 500 calories and not have health problems. 1000 is possible, or even 800, but not recommended if you want the energy to go outside and walk. wink

Yeah, that never goes away for some people. lol

Trust me...it will. If you take the "illegal" element away, the food isn't as great as you think....Trust me!

Like, if I want to say "screw it, I'm gonna go kill some Wendys's, Burger King, and maybe hit Dairy Queen." It really isn't that great because the whole forbidden element is gone. Like, I don't find fast food appealing anymore

I atually read your answer above a bit and didn't understand it at all.

Your saying, the only reason we like foods is cause it is forbidden, and that if we would eat it we wouldn't like it??

That is exactly right. If you start to listen to what your body craves and keep in tuned, you will find that it isn't that great.

Bottom line...NO FOOD is ILLEAGAL. My first week in therapy I found that I ate what I wanted and when I wanted to go "buck wild" and kill some junk food...it sort of took the fun out. Eating a bunch of shit wasn't an event anymore. Because nothing is off limits and you respond ONLY to stomach hunger.

Shit is getting serious and if I have kids I DO NOT want to pass what my mom did to me. All that trhowing up n shit is played out. Unecessary bullshit we put ourselves through. When you diet and fuck up over and over...you are trying to hard and being too hard on yourself.

Cause when I get married, I'm gonna have this alllll together!!! My man don't need no craziness...it's a turn off! giggle

Wow. Thats so great that this approach is working for you.

See, to me. Going 'buck wild' would trigger a purging spree afterward.

Thats awesome.

That's some serious shit. I purged all the way up to 21 and then stopped.

For real, go find something or some group...it's very Dr. Phill ish, but with a licensed person (unlike Dr. dumb ass Phill) you can work it out.

Everyone in America should shit...the media got us bugged out! Be like Barbie, while you can get 5 big ass pizzas for 6 dollars!! It's retarded and it's why we're so fat. We over diet and then fuck up and get fatter.

The Man got us fucked up! Anyone have duaghters? better stop it now!!! or let them watch hip hop videos! ha ha! Not for the behvior, but just cause THICKNESS is accepted in that gammut!

No No. I'm not saying Me.

Just that, that is wha t I thought would happen to someone with and eating disorder.

I'm actually really really really big on the topic of eating disorders, and have researched them a lot, and so I'm thrilled to here of your success story and hear how enthusiastic you are about it all. I think its great.

Oh yeah, and I hear ya on the daughters thing. I'm prepeared to try to sheild my daughter from that, but I'm sure thats a hard battle.

I think that makes sense for someone with that type of eating disorder. But some of us will binge all the time. That's how weight problems start to begin with. Practicing no restraint and eating whatever you want to is what caused me to weigh over 200 lbs at my worst. My body doesn't know how to tell me what to eat. I have to figure it out separately. I HAVE to count calories and fat content and deliberately decide what I'm going to eat or I won't eat right.
I agree with the notion that nothing should be off limits. But you also have to plan for "treats" and mostly eat a healthy, balanced diet. My body does not naturally tell me to do that. It's an incredibly conscious effort.

Mara

I still eat carbs.

A lot of my carbs are brown, though.

I actually grew up on Whole Wheat bread. We NEVER had white bread in the house, so I was 5-years-old making sandwiches on whole wheat bread watching Square One Television. And this was back when folks were like "Whole Wheat? Huh? Why?" lol lol How times have changed! lol

Yeah, that never goes away for some people. lol

I hear ya, sister. I can't ever seem to have just ONE snack cake. Which is why I try not to buy them. But when I break down and purchase some, you can kiss that entire box goodbye.

As an adult who has weighed anywhere from 70 lbs to 200 lbs (I'm now somewhere in the middle, though closer to the latter than the former number), I understand weight struggles.

I cut out nearly all carbs last year and lost 27 lbs in two months' time. But I was freezing, famished, and fatigued all day long. And as soon as I started eating 'bad' carbs again (white flour and sugar), I couldn't stop. Now, I'd just like to find a semblance of balance. And contentment. So if enjoying ice cream or bread every now and again makes me happy (albeit a bit chubby), I'll take it.

To those who can eat fries and remain a size 3, more power to you. Bitches. (Just kidding.)
