Similar to the Atkins diet.

All of them work. Actually, all diets work if you stick to them. It's a matter of taste for me. I hate high protein diets. I'm not a big meat eater.

At the start of the year, I cut down my carbohydrate intake to something like the equivalent of one slice of bread a day.

I had a bit of a nervous breakdown a month ago and it was suggested to me that I start eating more carbs (and fats) again as my diet could be affecting my mood.

I've put on so much weight in just a month. It's shocking.

of course they do...whole grains are better for you as they act a insulin helpers and help your metabolism speed up and keep ya cute. i live in central europe and basically eat a mediterranean based diet (very similar to how usa west coasters eat in wine country). and i essentially just used whole grained pastas, rices and flours in place of the white ones that pushed me inches closer to being a type 2 diabetic and did NO favors for me trying to look cute in jeans lol

the interesting thing i noticed when i was in the u.s. a few months ago is that they even have waaaaay more variety of whole grin food products than they do here---now if only they could stop putting white sugar and corn syrup as the second ingredient in all of them lol

Oh I know!

I was never into meat, myself. Like when I was younger....I ate ALL carbs. And I used to just go by the fat content. Well bread, pasta, rice...it has like 1 gram of fat...so I thought I was in the clear. Ugh. I was a lot chubbier then. I still love carbs, but I'm way more aware of just how much of them I eat these days.

I'm a carboholic, or so I feel at times. Try to reduce but sometimes the urge for crackers, cookies, and bread take over. Overall I try to balance the meals with veggies, meat, and fruit so it's entirely all carbs.

Oh Girl, pleeze.

Id rather be happy and healthy than be skinny. But oddly learning how to incoporate whole wheats and grains into my eating has kept me slim. Not skinny, but slim. Size 3 right here, without working out razz

..and so much more variety in my food! I can get my ciabatta and pizza on! I fake my risotto with a short grain brown rice, but my dinner guests do not complain AT ALL.

and me being ethnic (black), once I figured out cous cous from the mediterranean market was nothing but a drier version of GRITS (????). PUH-LEEZE. Soupy cous/cous- grits on a cold Sunday morning are my best friend (with fresh cracked salt & black pepper) drool3....!
