Applekisses is really, really, really, REALLY sick with tonsilitis. It looks like the infection's been growing for the better part of a week and apparently it's really bad.

Won't you please send her your positive karma and get well wishes on this thread. You know you love her...let her know. She needs it, poor thing.

Oh no I have had tonsilitis before and it is not fun at all, so I hope you get better real soon and drink your meds, you'll feel better before you know it

Speedy recovery to her...I know how that is- all too well. I had to have my tonsils removed when I was 19 because the infection got so bad- nothing was getting rid of it. I hope they can resolve this for her before surgery.

Thanks, guys and thanks SP for starting this thread.

I've had lots of tonsilitis before, but this one is pretty bad. I'm now on 3,000 mg of antibiotics a day and the urgent care doc wanted to send me to the hospital yesterday. I refused, so he gave me an anti-inflamatory shot and an antibiotic shot and had me wait to see if the swelling would go down (my airway was nearly completely shut off).

It started to get better, so he let me go home.

Thanks a bunch to A2grafix who was there and took me to see the doc.

honey, that shit sucks! for my worse bout of tonsillities i got a shot injected into the middle of my throat, followed by a scalpel. and miserable as that was, within hours the misery of the previous several days was gone!

You must have had an abcess...I've got three of them (two on the left tonsil and one on the right) and that's why he wanted me to go to the hospital to get them drained...but, it looks like two of them are opening on their own and the bigger one is getting smaller, so, I think, God willing, I'll be able to avoid the ER.

funny story -- so i'm in the E.R. because it was over the weekend and i couldn't deal. they had to call in a throat specialist. he explains the procedure. i nod in pained agreement at any cost to make the extreme discomfort end. so after he sticks the giant syringe in the back of my throat, he says to me, "wow. you took that whole thing in your mouth and didn't gag. how did u do that?"

i stared blankly at him, thinking, "you're not really asking me this, are you?"

and he stared blankly back, awaiting an answer!

then i just kinda mumbled, "i don't know," and waited for the drug to kick in!
