Do you walk a lot?

I just walked about 5 km (slightly over 3 miles, for you American folk), from my place to here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ton_Centre and back. This is the longest I've walked in years and years by about...oh, 4.9 km. lol

My cell died and I just couldn't justify driving two-and-a-half km to get to the dealer (especially on such a beautiful day). So I hoofed it.

If my cell were working, I would've snapped pics for you along the way? confuse

Do you walk much? Regularly? How far? Where from and to? Enquiring minds want to know. smile

i don't have a car, so yeah. i pretty much walk everywhere. i don't gauge how much i walk, but on my trip to new york last weekend we realized we were walking around greenwich village for about six hours straight. oops. redface

i love it, though. walking is a very meditative thing for me. i'm always lost in my own world when i go walking on errands or whatever.

i think it helps that i have a good A/C this year. as long as i know i'm coming home to a nice, chilly apartment, i can brave the heat outside. otherwise, it's all about hiding from the hot weather as much as possible.

I used to make myself exercise outside, get really hot then swim in the pool.

Before I had a car I walked everywhere. Now, not quite as much.

I do walk about 4.5 miles 2-4 times a week for exercise/fun. I'm increasing that to about 7 miles in the next few weeks.

heybaby

i practically walk everywhere everyday. especially when i'm downtown. i don't know how many miles but in Chicago its not unusual for me to walk from Harrison to the water tower place when its warm or cold. i have a lot of nervous energy so if i'm not sick or carrying alot of stuff i walk rather than sit still on the bus for a period of time. hell sometimes walking is faster.

I used to walk everywhere when I was away at school. Every place that I needed to get to was only about a 15-20 minute walk away and it also saved me a lot of money. Now that I am back at home, I don't walk much, unless it is on my treadmill. Everything is just too far away to try to walk. sad

Everyday!

To the subway, bus stops, the market. Where I live people also bike a lot (we have paved lanes for bikes on all our sidewalks), so I'm ready to get off a couple of lbs. by biking it through the city. cool

Aside from my exercise (40 minutes on the treadmill a few times a week) I walk when something is close in my neighborhood & I have the time. I always walk to my hair appointments b/c parking is terrible & it's only a 25 minute walk. A few friends live in the neighborhood so I'll walk to their houses. I like walking to the health food store too but coming back w/ a heavy bag ain't cute - it's uphill mad

I walk enough for exercise but not for leisure...

I walk a couple miles a day 3-4 days a week. I go out of my way to walk when possible. It helps that I live in a beautiful walkable city. It's my main form of exercise right now.

I'm forced to walk as I can never afford to catch a bus - but I hate it.

I tend to go in a trance when I'm walking - especially if I'm listening to music.

Two weeks ago, I set off walking at nine pm and didn't arrive home until ten-forty pm. It felt like I'd only been trudging around for about twenty minutes. According to Google Maps, it was 4.2 miles by car - so possibly longer by foot.

I always think that somebody's going to come up behind me and push me in the road when I'm walking down the street.

Yeah, I always was a 'walker'. smile
I can't drive - I don't like public transport so most of the time I'm just walking the streets... smile

And this way I save losts of money too! lol
