Walk a mile ...

in their shoes.

hmmm To better understand another would you walk a mile in their shoes, spend a day in their life ?

Is there a person in your life you would walk a mile in their shoes to understand better ?

Who ? & Why ?

What about here on the Org, who and why ?

There are a couple of people here who I would like to understand how they think and what makes them say the things they say.

as I was reading through some posts late last night and today something JustErin wrote made me think - would be interesting to walk a mile in her shoes to understand better where it came from

IRL I have a habit of putting myself in other ppls shoes too much then not thinking about myself.
I am trying to find a balance.

When it comes to the org...I guess I just try to realise that we are all so diverse and live all around the world with different backgrounds and cultures. I think even if I wished some one could walk in my shoes..in most cases it would be impossible. I just try to remember that we all have problems in our lives and we are all pretty much trying to survive in this great big world together as peacefully as possible.

At the end of the day we are all pretty good and decent human beings even if we do not agree.

peace!

From my real life, I would walk a mile in my grandmother's shoes. She is 90 years old and a mother to 13 men and women and a grandmother and great grandmother to many. This woman is the happiest, most positive woman I have ever known. She has had many problems in her life and I would like to see where she gets her amazing attitude from. (Typing this just made me sad because I haven't seen her in a couple of months sad)

Another one would be my cousin Alba. She is a single mother of three. She didn't finish school because she had her first son at a young age. She has worked so hard to make her childrens' lives wonderful and she has been blessed with three of the best kids ever. They are so intelligent, loving, and caring and it is because of no one except their mother. I would want to walk in her shoes because I admire her very much for the sacrifices that she has made for her children and I would like to see how she balances everything, work, school, kids, love life ....

Here at the org . . . hmmm

If I did and would not have the same experiences that person made in his/her life I'd understand a bit better what kind of life that person is living and how she/he is feeling, but without his/her past I'd still not know that much.
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

spending a day in their life you would be "them" their past and experiences would all be there, the memories the pains the joys - that is how you would gain a better uderstanding of them, by being them for a day

Hmm, that would be quite some trip. The next day I am me again and I know everything about someone else, in fact I have "been" that person and still might communicate with that person, that would be extremely weird. I guess I would understand that person a lot better, but I'd probably feel completely confused.

Ideally, shouldn't a true sense of justice in how we treat others exist in the absence of empathy?

Shouldn't there be a veil of ignorance that guides the way we interact with others?

Though to "understand" them, is there a better way than to see how they interact with you, to try things out, to delight in a friendship evolving etc.

True

It was just a random thought really to pass the time and engage people in conversation

we all know we could not walk a mile in another shoes - even if we wanted to

In that case, I would walk a mile in LleeLlee's shoes just so I could kick her ass with her own shoes.

it would probably be rather interesting to be you, my dear...

others that come to mind
my boyfriend
a gay man
someone who lives and speaks a foreign language everyday
someone who struggles with illness

interesting though...
as far as walking a mile
in someone's shoes that i disagree with
perhaps it's just my mood or maybe
i really am not generous of spirit
because my initial reaction is
hmph! i don't wanna.

hmmm

Hmmm.

I'd always said I wanted to do a day in my husbands shoes and him do a day in mine.....but I know thats not what you meant.

Probably my Mom.

At the org. Can't think of anyone.
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside
