Marijuana linked to psychosis

Marijuana linked to psychosis

Marijuana & Psychosis
Using marijuana seems to increase the chance of becoming psychotic. New research out of britain suggests even infrequent use of marijuana could raise the risk of psychosis by 40 percent. And the risk for people who use pot daily or weekly jumped to a range of 50 percent to 200 percent. Doctors say this stresses the need to highlight marijuana's long-term risks. The researchers said they couldn't prove that marijuana use itself increases the risk of psychosis but there could be something else about marijuana users that lead to the psychoses.

Oh my...I guess I am lucky that I never experienced that even though I lived with someone for 10 years that smoked pot nearly everyday.

Anyway, not knowing anything about this study other than what is posted here, it seems pretty irresponsible to be suggesting a link without knowing whether it exists. Is this a reputable study? Peer reviewed etc.?

Sounds like it's proaganda against drug use, and it potentially clouds (no pun intended) the serious issue of psychosis, mental illnes and its causes and such etc.

But like I said that's a gut reaction to this brief posting.

I was just listening to the news and heard the story so I posted it.
I did not realize that every thing posted here had to have scientific proof.
I just thought it was interesting.
I sort of thought if Bay News 9 could share it to a large population here in Florida that I could share it with the small population of the org.

I was just thinking the same thing. I can't even find what network or news channel they are affiliated with. Just an unsourced paragraph on a web site.

Again not attacking the org messenger, I'm attacking their crappy reporting. It's like when Fox News needs to get an opinion on the air they say "some people think".

Anyway, I'm going to go smoke up and think about this...
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

This doc was fascinating. There are very sick prople who transform before you eyes in it. If you've seen it, how could you ever forget that girl with MS and the stutter?

Well done and shows both sides.

IN POT WE TRUST (TV14 - VL)
The medical use of marijuana is examined from every side of a very complex issue with this documentary that charts the suffering of four chronically ill patients whose reliance on the illegal drug as a pain killer is in jeopardy due to federal anti-narcotic legislation. Reform organizations, prohibitionist groups, politicians, drug war critics, scientists, and celebrities all get their say in this fascinating analysis.

Pot is the root of organized crime which is very much alive in my country! You can say: legalize it (it's not legal in the Netherlands, just tolerated) and you get psychotics who are also losers.....or you leave it illegal, and all you have are some gangsters whacking eachother over some pot.....

I choose the latter!

Here in the US many are thrown in jail for possession yet rapists run the streets.
I have issues with that.
