Killer dogs in the hood are seen as a status symbol and also as protection. So what, is there a problem with that?

WTF @ rough dogs being "status symbols".
I wrote a "I hate Michael Vick" thread.
However, I've calmed down.
I think as a former resident of east St. Louis, i cant say the Vick case has exactly made my type of people proud.
As a citizen of America, I think Michael Vick deserves due process.
As a dog lover who grew up with mixed breed dogs, i can say im not in the best view of Vick.
I think this whole mess is behind us, and whatever happens to Vick, whatever happens. He'll at least be put on parole, which will help. I don't think jail's likely, but it could happen.

who cares about this guy? all this outrage over some sports figure who is abusing animals...don't get me wrong, i think its awful for the animals and he should pay a price.

but where is the outrage over this war? where is the outrage over our education and its misappropriated funding? where is the outrage upon which the public should be demanding the impeachment of a president who has lied to us over and over again?

this country's priorities are so screwed up. we know more about paris hilton, lindsey lohan, and michael vick than we do about our government's actions and the policy they support.

forget the dog fighting, the public's lack of interest in our own affairs is what's really sickening.

But still what? You are making an assumption based on misunderstanding my post. It refers to a well known troll in these parts.

The outrage over the war is in the P&R forum. I understand your frustration, but as a regular poster in P&R as well as here, I respectfully submit some of us can care about more than 1 issue at a time.

michael vick is not important enough to care about. period. if he was some loser down the road from you, you would mention it in passing to your co-worker and move on.

you missed my point entirely. the point of my comment was not about the war or education. i was commenting on the worship of all things celebrity and how the priorities of the nation's public are screwed up.

you should be able to care about more than one issue, and if you do then my post wasn't directed at you. unfortunately, as a nation in general, more people know more about lindsey's legal troubles and how many days paris or nicole will get in prison than they do about the politics running their lives.

AMEN!! clapping

The problem, it seems, is that most Americans don't have the stomach to protest their governments actions anymore...I'm a Soldier....I'm an employee...so conventional wisdom says I should be pissy that people question the boss and his motives (at least thats what Faux News and Bill O'Reilly tell me everyday on the mind control box...nuts)...in reality, if more people got up in arms about what the G is doing with the same fervor that PETA protested in front of NFL headquarters...or like Paris Hilton's fans did in front of the jail, maybe things would be a little different.....when we all accepted, in one way or another, that an election could be decided by 9 people instead of 300 million, thats when we blew open the top of Pandora's Box.....

Amazing how quick his partner took the G's deal and is planning on diming MV out, huh?

I guess that blows the whole "Hood don't turn on family, and nobody snitch to the police" idea on its ear.....like a rat jumping from a sinking ship.....

I also do not understand the obsession with celebrity, however, this case is different. This case creates yet another obvious racial divide. With regards to the focus on another 'celebrity'. Perhaps it takes the stupidty of a celebrity, such as Vick, to bring a problem like dogfighting to light. If Americans obsession over celebrity helps to attack something as ridiculous as dogfighting, then even better.

In addition, its not your, mine, or anyone elses job to tell individuals who or what they should care about, or how feverishly.

i'm going to disagree with you.

its our duty as citizens of this country to be interested in matters of government and policy, as it ultimately dictates how we can live our lives.

Him and Vick had personal beef, so he went state. He is going state for what he did, and the feds hope he will tell and make up stories on Vick. However, the snitch is already a loser with a record, so he will basically lie on Vick to cut down his time.

At most Vick will pay a fine.
