I like this but with a round stone. Simple, small...

Me too. When I had the chance to pick out an engagement ring in the past, I went for a very small (.25 carat), very good stone in an extremely simple white gold setting. I loved wearing it. I think it cost a thousand bucks.

And YES that's insane in a world where people are starving, and all of Supa's points about entitlement bullshit make sense to me. But it's a very meaningful symbol in our culture. shrug

Anyway, not all of us want a huge, gaudy rock. They key is to figure out what SHE wants. Size vs. quality is a matter of personal preference.

My current ring is a band of alternating tiny diamonds and emeralds...my sweetie already owned it, so it didn't cost her anything...and I love it just as much. Depending on what she's like, you can consider vintage/estate and spend a lot less (or get a lot "more").

Congratulations. smile
I was engaged to a gay best friend once and he bought me a $5.00 ring from Woolworth's. I absolutely loved that ring.

My favorite jewelry has not tended to be my most expensive jewelry. It has been the jewelry with some sort of meaning attached.

thanx....but what do you think about the ring? ba dum dum...cymbal smash

giggle

I've always liked the three stone ring for what it represents....past present and future....

...or it could just be the jewelers getting into my head, brainwashing me....shrug

lol

I think all that matters is that you are the one who is presenting it and that she gets to wear it forever - you can't go wrong with a ring like that imo.

I don't usually get into this type of stuff but that ring is fucking gorgeous to me.

For me, iffen I ever get married: no engagement ring and a simple platinum wedding band.

this is one I'm wanting to get when I reach 20 years of marriage (hitting 17 soon)....

Honey if I was a fella and gay I would rock your world, and after falling in love with you I would ask you to marry me and cement the engagement with a ring so that you could look at it and know that I loved you and only you and wanted to share my life with you. I would take you out to dinner with a good wine and then make love to you and surround the memory with love so you would have that until the day you died. Supa, I think you are one sexy guy and like I said before if I was a fella and gay, I would seek you out!!!!! hug

I would never ask for a diamond tho! lol I'm satisfied with the simplicity of symbolism and the grandness of love. I'd rather have true love and no jewels than Queen Elizabeth's crowned tiara and no love nod

I would give Supa a princess cut emerald in a thick round 18ct yellow gold ring with 2 1ct diamonds on either side. The emerald would be to match his eyes.!!

Easy killer lol

Something that will not crack or chip, what's harder and prettier than a diamond? I spent way too much on an Emerald and the thing cracked in a few years.

Also, I've mentioned that I've not met her fam yet but I have a pretty good idea.

Just get one of those hard plastic rings for 25 cents from the bubblegum-type dispenser. Those seem to last a long time. biggrin

OK, you should only try this if you are willing to give up your relationship if it turns out she is a completely vapid selfish witch but may I suggest you get the biggest fakest ass cubic zirconia and if she has the NERVE to go and get it appraised or to find out if it's real, you shouldn't be marrying her. Just think of the headaches later on down the road! Is vag really worth it? lol
