When the boss has left the office for the day?

Is there a change in your work?

At my old job there used to be. Terrible it was really. We were all a bunch of lads about the same age in our little office and it became a bit of a boys club when the boss left. She left early normally on a Friday and soon as she did we stuck on our CDs-normally indie, drum and bass, reggae and some hip hop and talked about sport! Little work was done as we were all counting down the minutes to get to the pub.

Having said that, I did respect my boss and vice versa. She remains the best Ive had and Id love to go back their temporarily given the chance.

I can honestly say work is no different when my boss is there or not. She's not around most of the time anyway. When she's got time to stop by it's a bonus.

Yes. I'm her back-up -- so I have to do her job and my own!

That happened once, and we couldn't wait for the boss to leave. He kept hesitating and comeing back and forth.

When he did FINALLY leave, and we waited a while just to make sure he had gone, we cracked open a bottle and had a party.

He came back minutes after we started drinking, and we thought we were all going to face the sack.

No!

He KNEW we had drink, and he wanted to join in, which is why he didn't want to leave, but he knew if he didn't we wouldn't have our party but he felt really sad, we didn't include him. lol

He was the best boss ever!

aawwwww! mushy

we always hated our boss, cause our job had no perks but he got plenty of contra deals all the time. One 42°C day we asked if he could buy us a magnum. He pulled out $100 and said how much does a magnum cost these days?
He thought we meant a magnum of champagne falloff and was happy to buy us one when all we wanted was one of these:

You went to the off licence and got champagne though? Please don't say you bought icecreams and gave him back his change? eek

At least five times a day. lol

I have my Pay Review tomorrow and I'm dreading it. I'd rather just not have any wage increase than have to sit through an hour of corporate buzz-words masquerading as intelligent discourse.

It'll be all like: "You need to proactively upscale your skillset by symbiotic shadowing of your team-mates whilst ring-fencing your tendency to micro-manage" and all I'm bloody doing is basically data-input and filing!!!

When I worked in a news agency, when the chief editor would be out, my bosses would not be able to handle things and we'd always have to stay late to get things done.
When the bosses were out, and the chief editor was in, we'd actually finish everything in 2-3 hours and the rest would be spent in research and fun.
