Why is it that when you are ill, you think the absolute worse

So, once again, I feel horrible. I finally stopped putting off going to the doctor and made an appointment for tomorrow. Every time I have gotten sick, I go through a period of self-diagnosis. And every time, I think the absolute worse. Not only do I think the worse, I go through all the stages from denying I am sick up to accepting that I am croaking at any given moment.

Does anybody else do this?

I am not really sure

Perhaps because I have suffered from intense migrians all my life I was taught and learned how to think calmly and positivle to help myself deal with the pain

I do not know if that makes and sence or not lol I really believe in positive thinking and that when ill our mind is a key factor is feeling better and healing quicker

Do you have constant pain in your groin? I do, and it's aggravating as hell!! Especially when you go to the doc, they do a lot of expensive testing, and still don't know what is wrong. Meanwhile, you're still in pain, and they give you narcotics. confused

Naw, I don't have that kind of pain but I did for years and they couldn't diagnose it.

Right now, my stomach just hurts. Really bad. sigh

Oh, I don't do that at ALL. No matter how bad I feel, there is ALWAYS someone worse. So I'm just thankful for my little bit of sickness knowing that it won't last.

Wow, that sucks. Make sure you are firm with the doc. Endometriosis? Or maybe ulcer? I've always thought that maybe I have IBS or Endo.

Oh, I totally do that. I'm in that category of knowing just enough to be dangerous. . .to my own sense of serenity. lol

I didn't used to be as bad about it, but now that I don't have health insurance, I fear the worst. For good reason.

Hope you feel better. Keep us posted, sweetie. rose
