Is it better to love or be loved?

Well, since you're asking us to choose I'm assuming that both the love given and the one received are unreciprocated, in which case I'd probably choose "to be loved". I trust myself more to handle that matter gently than I'd trust the other person to do the same for me, especially since we haven't even specified who the other person would be.

2 love because when u love u FEEL.

Being loved don't make u feel anything unless u love in return.

I would want to be loved. Knowing someone cares about you so much, makes a person feel good.

I agree. Being loved doesn't necessarily mean you can love in return. I know alot of people who love themselves so much, they only feel good when they are loved without showing love to others themselves.

Oh interesting reply. But you can be loved, and if you don't feel the same, I don't think that is a good feeling at all. I would much rather love.

I think.

Yes, I love.

There again there is that experssion, it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all.

I wouldn't rather settle for nothing at all.

Unreciprocated love can be very painful though. Kind of takes the joy out of it.

I agree, but it is just a hypothetical question. I would rather have the gift to love, than not at all.

I have been in instances that it was one or the other - on both sides of that coin.
It does suck either way when it is not balanced and both ways.

There is nothing worse than loving someone that does not love you- makes you feel alone and empty because you give and you get nothing back in return.
Although it sucks too to have someone that loves you and you do not feel the same.

This was such a tough question. When you put it that way...I would have to say, No! I wouldn't give up the love I have for my kids. But on that same note, sometimes when you love someone so much, it can hurt more then it can feel good. I guess it would have to depend on your situation, when it comes to this question you asked. Would a Mother give up the love for her kids? Probably not! But would someone who just had their heartbroken, would they wish they never loved at all? Probably!

Then you have never had your heart and soul destroyed but trying and wishing that another would love you.

I have

I could not with that upon another so my reply is that for me...after my experience...it is both or nothing.

If soembody loves you and you don't love that somebody back it makes you feel terrible and somehow guilty if that somebody is someone you like. But if I had to choose I'd choose to be the one who is loved.

Yes I have. I would still want to know love than disregard it, no matter what experience I have been through. Having said that, had you never had that experience, and the question was asked, would your answer still be the same?

I know it's a killer question, but I didn't want just replies to be "both". I want people to think about it, and is it better to have the gift of love or be loved.

There are some people who cannot love, for whatever reason, and I think it is a damned shame, they are robbed of such a wonderful thing.

If you come across as an unloving person, it can be hard to expect others to love you.
