Feng Shui I am currently reading a book on this subject, and I am thinking of trying this in my home. Has anyone else used Feng Shui as a way of making their life better? If so, how has it worked for you? Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

I do my own brand of feng shui, placing furniture where it feels harmonious to have them (rather than for strictly functional purposes). I'd never follow a feng shui instruction book though, especially if the results didn't please me.

How do you feel about the idea of placing certain colors in the home? That is one area that really interests me. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

How do you feel about the idea of placing certain colors in the home? That is one area that really interests me. That is one area where I'm not willing to compromise. Colours are really a matter of personal taste and there are certain colours I can't stand. The first feng shui expert to come into my home and suggest purple or light blue would be sent flying out the window.

I did read that the colors don't need to be out where they can be seen. So who knows. I see so many different ways to do this. It's all very confusing. Painting the inside of the closet light blue and then have a heart attack every time I need clothes? No thanks. I do agree that certain colours are more harmonious than others though. It would just be hard to draw general guidelines for those kinds of things, since colour preference is usually clear, personal and instinctive. Placing of furniture in a harmonious way is a bit more general and universal, I would think. .

Well, I'm not so sure if it brings propserity, etc. But it drings a sense of balance into your life, if only pyschologically. That in turn of course leads to alot of things. The insistence i Feng Shui and clearing clutter alone is heplful But I found having the command position in bed (you'll learn about it in your book) really did make me sleep more easily.

Honestly, I think Feng Shui is just another variation of creative visualization or the law of attraction... sort of. They wouldn't' think of it that way, it it seems like it to me. It's closely tied into Acupuncture and Tai Chi--all of these try to harmoize life energy (Chi). The difference is Feng Shui tries to do it in your environment rather than your body. But being that it's thousands of years old in practice and has been brushed by a heavy dose of Toaism, and a little bit of Buddhism and Confusionism, it has spiritual and cultural aspects to it that I think are specific to those cultures. For example, you should never sleep in a bed where your feet are point straight out the main masterbedroom door. This is a Confucius era suspicion because during those times, the tradition was to carry the dead from the beds out of the room and house, feet first. Also, black is the symbol for water in Feng Shui, whereas in America we would normally think blue. But no matter, find objects that represent those elements to you. Understand that a major part of what you are doing is making the environment comfortable. Chi may or may not exist, but a balance of space, objects in the room, and how overall movement flows throughout the room is always important, Feng Shui or not. Apply the principles to the masterbedroom above all else. You can superimpose the map (Bagua --sp?) over the bedroom as well as the overall house. This is because rooms you are in the most (Bedroom is where you sleep so it's a major major room), need to be the ones in most harmonay.
