Is J.K. Rowling a genius?

Personally I do not like her books, but it seems many are addicted. I must be missing something (entirely).

Seeing as though this is the last Harry Potter book, is she genius, or how would you describe this writer, so many you are hooked on?

I've heard they are addicting too and that they have been linked to psychosis. nod

I absolutely believe she is genius. When I read her words, they paint a picture for me. She evokes emotion in me, she is witty and being able to create a storyline that lasts thosuands of pages is simply amazing.

I do think she has introduced alot of non-readers (esp. children) (of fiction books) to readers now though. If that makes sense, which has to be a positive.

Believe what hype? Have you actually read any of the books? Kid Stories? Maybe, but she never once insulted their intelligence and dumbed it up for kids.

To each his own, A but please don't refer to me as an idiot.

Yup, however you want to describe it, the HP books have made readers out of children AND adults who weren't so previously. That has to be a good thing.

I didn't like Tolkien either... but Harry Potter is completely different... Tolkien was just a pain for me to read... Harry Potter was easy to read...

she is a genius in the sense of how a pop star can sell many records and or singles? i woudn't use the word genius to describe her! i don't read her books anymore. i did when i was in the sixth grade,i found it silly just like anne rice's books. i don't know i think a good writer is someone who does something new and or something inspires the senses..what i do like about her is that she is making more children and teenagers read books! reading in my opinion is one of the most important progression in human society..

Well, Ms. Rowling inspires my senses adn the fact she gets kids and adults alike reading, all across the world at the same time, the same book is nothing short of genius to me.

If people consider Rowling's writing genius, then literature is truly dead.
