I understand the warmth of handpainted/drawn movies. But some of the Disney pics were not all that either... some movies you saw them not making the most of their craft. My faves are from different periods.
Classics from the old days are Pinoccio and Bambi. Later day classic Jungle Book. Then Beauty & The Beast/Aladdin brought back some of the old flair. Then they lost it again.

Pixar brought back the heart of animation and dragged it into a new age. I do not mind the new tools as long as the characters got soul like Marlin, then I am okay with everything.

Pinoccio scared the shit out of me. lol

As far as computer animation is concerned: for some reason I still find it less convincing than hand-painted cartoons. Example: I have not yet encountered a sinister character in 3d movies that would be as convincing as these ladies:

and especially this one:

That COULD be because I am now 20 years older. lol

This thread reminded me how as a baby I wailed while watching Dumbo. Especially during that scene in which Dumbo's mom rocks him on her trumpet.

I MEAN

What would it be doing in the room? Taking notes? I'd be grabbing her horns trying to screw Maleficent seven ways to Sunday and the bird would be scoring me.

Look at it's face! You know it'd be trying to rate me out of ten. And it would still complain no matter how many times she came.

Maleficent was the scariest.
She was (for me as a child) the cartoon equivalent of the Wicked Witch of the West.

By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
