have not seen it yet, but dying to. i LOVE pixar. even "cars" which i thought was the least pixar movie, was really good.

and they are saving disney from itself. now that they control disney, lasseter closed down that horrid direct-to-video-sequal department and said no more of those, that they were ruining the disney name, and it should be about quality, not quantity.

i totally agree.

Moi aussie.

This movie combines the Pixar quirkiness with the Disney cuteness without getting over-cutesy.

Props to Brad Bird.

Is this the movie about the rat who wanted to be a chef?
Looked good in the previews.

Anyhow, for some reason I could never convince myself to liking all those 3d animated movies: Shrek, Toy Story, Monster Inc, etc.

Yeah the animations are mind blowing but all these movies seem to lack the warmth of such cinematic gems as:

love

love love

and even this one

i agree. i miss hand-painted cartoons too. it's why i have a lot of love for the tim burton-produced stop motion films like 'corpse bride'. it's not a cartoon, but old-fashioned craft goes into the films and you can really feel the difference.

toy story 2 is probably the best pixar movie, imho. it's also one of a very small handful of movies that i would say the sequal was better than the original

I Love Pixar sans Disney. I thought that that was proabably the worst pairing ever. I love Brad Bird and this rant isn't against him. I just don't like the Disney involvement. Delaying and messing with Cars so that Chicken Little could come out.

I have yet to see Ratatouille. But I am getting tired computer animation centering on talking animals/Bugs esp penguins. Is there no more imagination left? I thought the Incredibles definitely was breaking the mode...so far that's my favorite Pixar film.

Oh yeah...plus I really loved the fact that in those old movies you could tell which element is going to move or be used because it was painted separately from the background.

I understand the warmth of handpainted/drawn movies. But some of the Disney pics were not all that either... some movies you saw them not making the most of their craft. My faves are from different periods.
Classics from the old days are Pinoccio and Bambi. Later day classic Jungle Book. Then Beauty & The Beast/Aladdin brought back some of the old flair. Then they lost it again.

Pixar brought back the heart of animation and dragged it into a new age. I do not mind the new tools as long as the characters got soul like Marlin, then I am okay with everything.

And Ratatouilli is the best I saw since Iron Giant, the reason I love, love, love Brad Bird so much. That movie had the new smartness I have come to love in the Pixar movies, but it had so, so, so much more.

The characters; all amazing. I might call my first born Hogarth just for this movie alone. Hogarth's facial expressions and voice were just what Disney was missing.

Great fun inside of the story; the nuclear instruction movie. Classic.

And the vocal talents were WELL picked...

My favorites:

Peter Pan(#1)
Lady and the Tramp
Sword in the Stone(I hated that messy style of animation, but it's based on my favorite book of all-time)
Beauty & the Beast(#1a)
Toy Story 1 & 28 -)

The Ichabod Crane/Mr. Toad is my favorite short animated film of all-time.

And the ride was the best!

Rest in Peace, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. sad

Snap, you can still ride it. Kind of.

beautifully animated, emotional without being sappy or pandering, story that isn't dumbed down, and is unique in a whole bunch of ways.

it's an AWESOME movie.
