Are you close to your Parents? Do you tell them everything?
Do you consider them your best friends? Do you argue with them? Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

I am close with my parents, but I don't consider them my best friends and I definitely don't tell them everything. When I was younger, we had a lot of problems because my parents were very strict and that caused us to have many arguments. We don't really argue anymore because I am an adult and they know that I can make my own decisions.

Not my best friends. I don't tell them everything. They wouldn't want me to. Just like I don't want them to tell me everything. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Both my parents passed away in 1997...I was very close to my Mom and was just o.k. with my Dad. I told almost everything to my Mom, she had the best sense of humor ever!! My Dad was an alcoholic since before I was born, so I was never really close to him. I suppose he did his best, we always had plenty of food and shelter over our head, I just wish he was a better person. Enough said!

Do you tell them everything? No.
Do you consider them your best friends? No. Do you argue with them? Yes. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Yes Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents?. I love my mother very much, but I don't tell her anything about my private life, or any of what I'm feeling. Same with my dad, except with him I'm in not a good relationship with. He is a very criticizing man and difficult to get along with. He would help is I ask him to, and he does, but he can be stubborn and mean. He doesn't believe in me, which makes me question myself many times.

Do you tell them everything?
not even close. My dad's dead by the way. Do you consider them your best friends? Not even close. Do you argue with them? no. I respect my mom as my mom now. I make her feel as if she's loved, even if there's no real connection there on my end, at least on that level. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Yes and No. I call her every week, sometimes twice a week, cause she's a lonely old lady. And we have spirited great phone conversations. From her end, we have a tight bond and see eye-to-eye. From my end, I have to dumb down my subject matter, etc. to talk to her. She has a rather simple mind and way of viewing the world (dangerous actually--I look out for her alot) an there's not much we connect on when it comes to our 'deeper thoughts' Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? [/b] After my asshole dad died, it got better and better until my mom and I enjoy as functional a relationship as we ever had. My sister--now we totally get along and have always cared for each other, even though I don't share any of my inner secrets etc. with her. We still mutual care for each other ALOT, and she puts up with me God this questionnaire is depressing. . [Edited 7/19/07 22:13pm]

Are you close to your Parents? Very close I love them
Do you tell them everything? No I dont mention my problems to them because I dont want them to worry one thing I would never talk about with my parents is sex, no way! Do you consider them your best friends? Close but no Do you argue with them? When I was younger there was a lot of arguing especially with my mom. Now I cant even remember the last time we argued. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Not distant at all Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? Its great with the two of them only wish my dad lived closer so that I can visit him more. Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

Are you close to your parents?
yes Do you tell them everything? well, within reason but we do have the kind of relationship where we can talk to each other about pretty much anything and everything is always an ok topic. Do you consider them your best friends? i wouldn't consider them my best friends. i have friends to be best friends. parents are on a whole other level. Do you argue with them? sometimes. although we've never had one of those typical parent child kinda fights. we've been brought up to express our feelings and talk about stuff, even if it's ugly stuff. no need to shout and argue. we have our tantrums n all but never anything major. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). well, obviously that's a no Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? healthy, mature and equal with a lot of unconditional respect and love going both ways. and fcuz there's a healthy dose of irritation, unspoken irks and frustration below the crust, just like in every family lol. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Do you tell them everything? No. I haven't spoken to my father for about 16 years and, even before that, our 'relationship' was strained at best. I guess I'm the son he never wanted. But, hey, that's cool - he's not the Dad I wanted either.
My mother... growing up we were >this< close; the archetypal mother/son relationship. And being the youngest, I was the apple of her eye. I think my brother and sister (and father ) were very jealous of our relationship. Ever since I stopped speaking to my father, it has really strained the relationship with my mother - she was torn between the two us, really - so she knows very little about what I get up to or what I do. It's quite sad - I know virtually nothing about my mother's life in her 50s and she knows very little about my late teens/twenties/what I get up to now. Strictly need to know. Do you consider them your best friends? My father? See above. Definitely not - we have never been friends. In fact, he once told me he hated me. My mother... she was my best friend. If I can ever re-build our relationship - or get anywhere near to what we once had - that will make very happy indeed. But it is an emotional issue that I'm not sure I'm ready to face, not without it ripping me apart. Do you argue with them? Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Well, you've already seen my response above. Growing up, I was never close to my father - and the last time he laid a finger on me was the last time I ever spoke to him. I disliked him before; I downright hated him after that. Now, I couldn't care less. I wasted far too much time and energy on that in the past. My mother... complicated. Deep down, I love her - obviously, she's my mother - but it's such a difficult issue. The only way I have been able to cope, in some ways, is to bury my feeling as deep as I can. I *do* speak to her, not as often as I should, but I wouldn't say we actually 'talk'. It's very hard. Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? Fractured. Obviously, these things are never cut-and-dry; they're never as simple as a few words written on a website. There are twists and turns and complications I couldn't even begin to go into. I wouldn't know where to start. And by no means am I suggesting that I'm a complete angel and have no part to play in this. There are things I could've done differently, definitely. And I don't want to seem cold and uncaring, either - that is just my coping strategy and the ins and out of this issue are not something I can really discuss here. But 'family' is a strange term for me - my family, as far as I am concerned, are my friends.

Yes Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents?. I love my mother, but we are not very close, never have been and I guess never will be. I had a very close relationship with my aunt and dad, but they both died some years ago. To them I talked about everything. I really miss that, especially these days. I have done, but these days it justisn't worth my time Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). Do you tell them everything? No, but my mom tells ME everything. It veers into TMI territory sometimes, but I don't mind. I don't tell her everything because it would take too much explaining half the time, and I don't have that kind of energy, especially on the phone.
Do you consider them your best friends? It's weird - there is a kindredness and trust a quality of friendship with my mother, but I don't consider her a "friend". I really don't want to. I like having parent/child boundaries. Do you argue with them? Used to, but not so much anymore. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). I am not close with my father. I tried to work on that a couple of years back, but it didn't go so well. Nothing bad. Just wasn't happening. Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? My mom makes me crazy but I love her. Half the time I feel like I'm the parent and she's the child, but it's not to say she didn't bust her ass raising me. My dad? I don't know what the hell his deal is, but thanks to him I have thick hair and strong teeth. Thanks, Dad!

Do you tell them everything? god no.
Do you consider them your best friends? no, and they never have been in the past either. Do you argue with them? yup. even if it's not about something important, i have to bite my tongue constantly around my dad to avoid getting in political/religious arguments. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). somewhat. Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? superficially okay, but there's a lot i won't tell them. i've been working on making my family function better a lot lately. also, i keep getting the feeling they might divorce in a few years.

Do you consider them your best friends? no. Do you argue with them? yes. Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). sort of, i mean. they're never really around to talk to and when they are they're in their room sleeping. so sometimes. Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? I'm closer with my mom, although we could be closer. I'm not close with my dad very much. I could be so much closer with them both though, they're just never around.

Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). As i said my mom's dead so yes, i guess we're kinda distant As 4 my dad, well... It's ok, i talk 2 him, it's just that we're not living in the same world so i know he wouldn't understand everything. Do you consider them your best friends? no, not the BEST. Do you argue with them? sometimes, but not bitter arguments... Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). I still live in my mom's house, I'm too young for my own emancipation. No way. Do you consider them your best friends? my dad, yes. but i still wouldn't tell him everything. my dad is terrible at keeping secrets. my mother, no. Do you argue with them? not really Or are you distant from them (you still love them, but you don't talk to them like that). I don't talk to my mother much. I talk to my father almost every day. Overall, how would you describe your relationship with your parents? my mother and I have nearly no relationship. She is difficult for me to put up with because she is just not a nice person. she's mellowed out with age but not by much. So I really don't deal with her. She only calls me when she wants something and most of the time when she calls I don't answer the phone. I only call her when I have to; birthdays or something like that. My father and I are very close.
