Mike Vick: How did this become a Federal case?

Can anyone please explain how a local Virginia dog fighting case become a federal indictment? Why are the feds involved in this case?

Because the crime crossed state lines.

maybe mr vicks would enjoy being imprisoned, tortured, denied food and then put into a giant cage with another human also similarly mistreated for a fight to the death.

maybe he would enjoy that 'sporting event'

Cruelty to animals after a point is a federal offense, which is good.

It became a federal case because of the transportation of dogs across state lines (for criminal activity)and the gambling aspect of the operations. It is alleged that even unknowingly (on his accounts) he was the front man for a shady operation and wwhen gambling and interstate collide, the feds have a case.

Scary fact for Ron Mexico: The U.S. government has a 95% conviction rate and they have taken down Martha Stewart, so Ron Mexico will be able to use that scrambling ability when he has to bend over for the soap.

What an idiot!

I agree with you. It is a shame because these guys come from rough areas and utilize their God given talents to be paid millions to play a child's game. They want to "keep it real" by keeping friends/associates from their neighborhoods who don't have their best interest at heart. These friends more often than not operate on the fringe of the law and if there was ever a case of guilty by association this is it. This case won't be the first or last time an athlete screws up due to poor jusgement/choice of friends (and their actions).

Hell, if I made millions (I can dream can't I), I would dump the life I had before and surround myself with people that can better my overall education and/or financial experience. No one's (friends)character is going to cost me millions in earnings.
