WHEN IT COMES TO COMPATIBILITY..... had this discussion at work and wanted to know your thoughts. how much truth do you think there is in the Zodiac between the signs? in other words if 2 signs are usually read as being incompatible or compatible, do you think it's true for most cases? sure there's always the exception, but just curious about your opinions. thanks LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣

Its interesting and I like learning about it. I think some of the theories are pretty cool. But at the end of the day I just trust my instincts, If I like you, I like you. I'm not gonna let some hocus pocus decide my relationship. Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

being from N.O. I grew up being schooled on the success or failure of relationships based on compatability of signs....I don't buy into it....then again, my wife is a Cancer...I'm a Capricorn...and according to all the hoodoo/voodoo books, we're soulmates.....go figure..... Don't hold back, people.
Um... I dunno. I like reading my horoscope - someone bought me a 'Libra' book years ago - but I'm not a blind subscriber to these things. I'm very interested in them, and there are some uncanny parallels, but I wouldn't base a relationship on whether an astrologer said we were compatible or not. It's ALL about the chemistry. I would sneak a peek at that book, just in case, though.

I've been playing around with astrology for fifteen years or so. There must be a whole hell of a lot of coincidence in regards to it for it to be utter B.S.

Coincidence, yes, and people seeing what they want to see, or what they think they should see. Someday I'm gonna use one of those quiz sites to make a quiz using traits that are supposedly correlated with certain signs, and have people take it, and then see how many actually end up "testing into" their own sign. I'm certain that it would be no more than what you'd expect from chance. I just need to figure out how to control for people who know what traits their sign is SUPPOSED to come with, because they'd skew the results. Anyway, if somebody can explain to me why/how the position of stars at birth has anything to do with personality, I'll be happy to listen. Does it manipulate your DNA? Have some particular affect on your neurochemistry? How, exactly, does this work? Even a vaguely plausible hypothesis will do. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I think over my summer break (early September) I'm gonna go ahead and make my quiz. I might enlist the help of some orgers to compile the lists of traits for the different signs. I'm going to want multiple highly-regarded (by people who highly-regard this sort of thing) sources. If any of you want to go ahead and orgnote me with info from such sources (including why you think they're a good source), feel free. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I don't believe in any of that crap, if you mesh with than you do and if you don't then you don't. I know many folks who according to this reading or that soul match fight like cats and dogs and others would aren't supposed to shoot each other on sight based on those things, who can't keep there hands off each other and just fit. My first relationship ripped wholes in that crap for me.

It hardly matters what a horoscope says, as long as the subject feels the interpretations were done for him or her personally. A few years ago French statistician Michel Gauquelin sent the same horoscope for one of the worst mass murderers in French history to 150 people and asked how well it fit them. Ninety-four percent of the subjects said they recognized themselves in the description. You don't scare me; i got kids

I think part of why so many people find their signs to be so right-on is that they skip straight to their own sign, and then 94% of them go, "yep, that sounds like me, this stuff must be true!" If they looked at the rest of them in an unbiased way, they'd find the same thing for the rest of them too. [Edited 7/19/07 13:09pm] oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I've studied astrology intensely since I was practically a child, and hold much of what to has to say close to heart. For me it only makes sense that if people are affected physically an emotionally by something as tiny as THE MOON, and the lunar calandar, it certainly is possible that we could be affected by the pull and position of the planets the moment we entered life on this earth. That being said, as a water sign, I stay pretty true to my compatible elements. I'll be friends with anyone of any sign, but romantically speaking I keep close to either earth signs or other water signs. at least with other water signs we share the similarites that allow me to know what to expect from them as I would expect from myself. Earth signs, when in balance with my water is a very sustaining experience with the ability to make very beautiful things grow between us. Fire signs, though I'm attracted to the power of them generally don't work for me ultimately as we eventually engage in the eons old power struggle of whom will overpower whom, and we end up trying to cancel each other out. Starts out exciting, but the battle proves too exausting in the end. Then me and air signs? Oh HELL no. I can't even **** with them, no way: when our elements mix, what always begins initially as a pleasant spring rain always evolves into a typhoon of a relationship with catastrophic results...nooo, nooo, I've tried four times already and in each circumstance I always ended up wanting to stab those bastards on the neck with a prickly pear ... But like I said initially, I'll be FRIENDS with anybody! [Edited 7/20/07 2:20am]

I remember seeing this science programme where an envelope, with a horoscope inside, was put on each audience member's chair. They were told not to open them until instructed. They didn't mention which star sign each one was but everyone was asked to open their envelope, read its' contents and not discuss it with anyone. The presenter then asked how many people identified with what they read and literally every single person put their hand up. It turns out they were using something called the 'Barnum Syndrome', which employs a 'something for everyone' mentality. It's based on the famous circus owner's approach who had something 'for all the family'. Basically, the presenter said that many horoscopes use the 'Barnum Syndrome' in the way they are written - thus no matter who you are, or whatever star sign you are born under, they are written in such a way that virtually anyone can relate to it.
