Any NY Orgers Affected by Yesterday's Explosion Near Grand Central?

Sh!t was crazy in midtown. I could see the smoke walking to my gym on Madison & 36th. Cop cars & firetrucks were everywhere. The 4,5 & 6 trains were shut down, so I took an express bus home. Trains are running today, but no service to 42nd street/Grand Central.

I work in Chelsea. Fortunately my trains don't pass through Grand Central.

They say it wasn't terrorism, but I don't believe that for a moment.

The only logical thing to do is invade Consolidated Edison, but knowing Bush he'll probably invade Jersey or the phone company or something.

I don't live, commute or do business anywhere in the Midtown East area, so I was not affected whatsoever.

In fact, I didn't even know it even occurred until I got home and turned on BBC World News.

I saw that on the news, it scared me beyond words for you guys. Even if it wasn't terrorism, the feelings are still raw from 9-11.

I met a friend for dinner near work yesterday evening and she was the first to tell me about it. But I didn't realize how much of a big deal it was until I saw all the coverage on the news this morning.

I doubt it was terrorism. Remember, parts of NYC's infrastructure were built 90+ years ago. Sh!t like this is going to happen.

I was worried about my mom, but she made it home. My Internet, phone and tv went out, but that was probably the squirrels and birds chewing on the line....that's what my cable guy said...but it looked very scary....at first I thought they were showing footage of 911...

i just think it's more of ConEd's complete incompetence. last summer we had that huge part of queens with no electricty for like, what - 2 months?

the big power loss earlier this month...

their pipes are exploding...

the city should really start holding them to higher standards.
