wtf!?

Hurricane Isidore, you know the one that just nailed Mexico and Lousiana is bringing flooding rains to my neighborhood- Detroit! I guess the entire Midwest and Northeast is under flood watches as they warn of a possible 2-4" of rain being dumped in these areas. I realize it's nothing compared to the Gulf regions that got hit, but still. I can't remember the last time I felt the effects of a tropical storm. I think it was Hurricane Fran back in the 90's. I swan in Lake Huron that day. nuts I realize I'm going on about nothing. I just think it's strange. Damn storm woke me up. I should be sleeping! mad

I was driving down I-94 today...what a mess! But, we do need the rain, though...nice to get rid of all that brown grass... smile
Do you remember that storm in the late 70s that ripped through the Detroit area? The sky was all green...It was reminants of a tropical storm that knocked people's power out for weeks! I remember stores selling bags of ice for $5 each (that was A LOT in the late 70s.)
I hope we don't get anything like that...

Just a question...

I was recently in the greater Detroit area and found the roads to be substandard at best.

Are all the roads in Michigan this bad?

I was on 75, 59 and 94... all of these roads were not good at all... very rough... in bad shape.

And what about the road signs that tell you where you should have gone right AFTER you have passed the exit...???

Damn, what is a Texan to do in Michigan?

Uh huh, my feelings exactly. Detroit, try Ann Arbor, sheesh.

And Ann Arbor is much prettier.

Whoa, where the hell are ya? It was unbearably hot in Santa Cruz earlier this week, but the past two days have been extremely cold. It's foggy and I suspect it might rain tonight... or at least sprinkle... the first rain of the season, which means NAKED PEOPLE running about. True story.

Anywho, I had to put all of my skirts away mad
I mean, like, where is the sun?

Ann Arbor!? Nooo! No, Ann Arbor is pretty... The Detroit area does have a lot of shit ass roads though. Waterford is the worst for me right now... construction all over Elizabeth Lake Road, which affects me because I drive on it most often! evil. sad In fact, I would go as far as to say that the majority of Michigan roads aren't worth a crap.

It was certainly worth it... I'll give you that. Hell, it would have been worth it if I would have been dragged there on my naked ass by a horse... so I will stop bitching.

The roads are bad though.

biggrin

EDIT: I was a bit thrown by "Big Beaver Road" though... What the fuck were they thinking??? Exit 69 too! What the fuck?

LOL @ swan and Big Beaver.

Yeah, a lot of the roads around here suck ass but the construction has been even worse. All of the mile road exits and a good stretch of 94 have been fucked up for what seems like forever. 696 isn't bad and that's been the alternate route for months. Where I live in the suburbs isn't that bad. And they have started to improve things from 12 mile to downtown. But some of that shit makes you wish for a country road.

I think it's bypassing you Aaron. It's been moving northeast. And by the time it got to the midwest it was already east of you. Sorry about that. sad

We were really dumb, swimming in the Lake during the remnants of Fran. Isidore is a cool name for a hurricane, don't you think?

Personally I like Fran better. It's short, to the point and down to earth. So many of those other hurricanes try to come across as exotic and dangerous and don't cause any damage. Fran was the real deal.

I do too. When else can we make fun of Mom and accuse her of causing so much damage? I just want there to be a Hurricane Indigo!

And it wouldn't really mean any harm- it would just want to play. It would come on way to strong though. The entire continent WOULD be obliterated!
