The 4400 = Heroes

Sort of

Has anyone seen The 4400? It's on Cable and is in it's 3rd season (or 4th) now. If you like Heroes, you may wanna check it out.

Basically, it's about these 4400 people who were abducted over the course of 50 years or so and they are all brought back to Earth at the same time at the same age they were abducted. All have an ability which ranges from the mundane (Healing and visions) to the interesting (removing anxiety and being able to shout at high pitch levels) to the strange (causing folks to imagine their worst phobias). However not only can these 4400 have abilities, but apparently anyone can with an injection of this drug called Promicin. However the death rate for any non-4400 is 50/50. Many non-4400 have taken the injection, however complications have arisen as 1)people die if they take the drug and 2)some people use their abilities for bad. This has caused an anti-Promicin/4400 movement.

It's an interesting premise for this Drama. I can already see parellels between it and Heroes. It's sort of like Heroes in the distant future...or where Heroes could go. But since it's on USA network, there isn't a huge budget, so you get more drama than special efx. It is a little less over the top but pretty deep and invovled.

I watch it and really prefer it over Heroes. It seems more intellectual or something.

I don't remember what happened at the end of last season. Where's Isabelle's dad?

I like it a lot. It's less clever or trying to be so that Heroes. But I think it takes the concept a bit further. I know Heroes is only one Season in, but I don't think they are going to go in a direction that will seem universal to the whole story...and I get that from the 4400.

I am not sure about Isabelles Dad. I just started to watch and I'm in the middle trying to figure stuff out.

You are probably a season off and it'll come on there soon. We get these in the summer. Way off schedule.

This is like your Lost thread only, you know, boring.

Love it, love it, love it. I'm so glad it's back, it was away too long, I missed it so much. Back in the company of all my other favorite line ups. Yay!

Anyway, I think 4400 is geared towards a different group of people, I guess you can say there are similarities, with all the special abilities and saving mankind, but to me it just has a different feel than Heros which a lot of people are a fan of here. So I think few people can be a fan of both.

Isabelle's dad:

Although Richard began to develop a telekinetic ability, it was no match for the myriad abilities possessed by Isabelle. But in the end, it was Richard who took away her powers, telekinetically injecting her with the syringe the future had given Tom Baldwin.

After Jordan Collier's return, Richard assisted him in stealing promicin from a government installation. But after learning that those who take it have a fifty percent chance of dying, Richard disagreed with Collier over the morality of handing it out. After promicin hit the streets, he left Collier's movement and embarked on a new life as a fugitive.

Weird. The new season started up again about 4 weeks ago Sundays on the USA network. Along with Monk, Psych and Dead Zone among others.

Ooops, I meant to put a 4 in there somewhere. Anyway, yeah the new season has started for some shows and ended for others. Damages looks like it'll be good and intense with Glenn Close. I'm happy Euerka's back, though it is getting really silly, I doubt it can keep going. Funny, Psych made a Prince reference last week smile I like them nice to see "Bud" all grown up.

How is Eureka? I just heard about it and it looked good. Not sure I want to get into another TV show. Right now I am supposed to be TV less for the Summer, and for the most part I am.

A town full of geniuses allowed to express themselves to the extent of their abilities, in a peaceful environment without a lot of government intrusion, a private own business kind of a thing that does receive some government funding but not government controlled. Of course the catch is that they are always getting into some very serious scraps, sometimes to the extent of world destruction, but mostly stuff that would be contained only in that town. The balance is the sheriff who is not a genius but an ex US Marshall with a lot of common sense. Street smarts to the rescue. Sci-fi stuff no outer space aliens, just crazy things humans can think of to do, with romantic interest twist and turns, a double agent, and a mysterious captured all powerful entity that not even the government knows about. Beautiful scenery, very diverse people.
