Eye contact does it intimidate you ?

Does eye contact in a conversation make you feel intimidated or not?
For me depending on the conversation.
Most of the times I hold eye contact with people when I talk because that's just how I am used to, but I notice that sometimes males will not hold eye contact or will quickly look to the sides every three seconds.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

It depends on who I am talking to. If I know the person well, then no. If it is someone I don't know, then yes, it can be intimidating.

Lawd. Eye contact--you gotta make it when you're hitting on girls. Just don't hold it for too long(say when you're plastered) cuz then it's creepy. boxed Staring contests are verboeten.

Eye contact doesn't intimidate me, but I'll glance away and then look back after a few seconds during business conversations ...

because frankly long eye contact is very intimate in my opinion, and I reserve that for close friends or romantic relationships.

I think you can "see into someone's soul" by maintaing eye contact for long periods ... that's intrusive ...like being stripped naked. So, I don't do that for work/business exchanges.

I'll be direct, MAKE eye contact, but glance away when required to maintain a non-intimate, non-special, non-creepy atmosphere -- and I find that also keeps the other person feelign at ease. Because when I don't glance away, I find they will.

In biz, I'll only stare for long periods if it's a really heated debate or I'm making a stern point and I want to remain dominate or assertive.

In those cases, the first to look away is a .... punk.

yep, highfive if they can't look me in the eye when talking to me all sorts of bells, whistles and flags go off. the other side of that is if you've lied to me after looking me in the eyes for whatever... talk to the hand

I don't like too much of it.

I like a bit but I find it hard to concentrate on what I'm saying when someone's looking at me because I feel like they're LOOKING at me not listening to me.

I feel like someone's really listening when they look down which is just odd but meh.

Like someone said above, being shy sucks.

I have trouble NOT making eye contact with people... often in crowded places.

Eye contact has never really bothered me,

in fact I tend to make sure I have eye contact

where possible... I mean, not to extremes or anything.

Some kinds of general small talk can be more offensive to me than eye contact.

But then, I'm probably a bit weird...

I can feel myself blush sometimes if I'm attracted to that person but it should be the done thing. You should always look people in the eye.

That comes from your inner sense of inferiority, which, given it is you, is entirely right....listen to it, it speaks the truth wink
