No one ever told me I was pretty No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't.
A quote by Marilyn Monroe. Sometimes adults can be very cruel. I was told I was pretty as a young girl, but I was never really praised when I grew up.

I was never praised as a child or adult but I have always praised my children and tell/told them that they are amazing, talented handsome and pretty and loved I show them by actions and words, I am truly blessed to have them. But now I will tell you something, you’re pretty inside and out you’re a phenomenal women do not let no one tell you any different

You're probably am not going to like what I have to say, but oh well.
I wish I could remember the exact quote about diamonds, but I can't so I gest. If they were available to everybody, they'd lose their value and who'd want one. Me personally, same goes for statements. I've been this way since I was a child, if I heard someone say, that they thought all children were beautiful, and then called me beautiful, I'd take their comment like a grain of salt. I would never really take that person's opinion seriously. On the other hand, something said positive more specific to me about me, from a more discriminating person, were priceless. IMHO it's better to know what positives to accentuate about one's self then just hollow blanket statements.

I was never told as a child that I was pretty. As an adult I find it very hard to accept compliments.

My mum told me I was ugly. I think now she thinks I'm quite good-looking because she never puts me down when I go "of course, when you're stunning like me..."
..she used to. | |

Ex-Moderator | A few years back I was going through some old school papers of mine and discovered I thought I was ugly when I was about 10. It almost made me cry, imagining myself as a 4th grader so down on herself. Thinking back, it was an insecurity of mine for as long as I could remember. I don't remember ever being told I was pretty as a child.
But c'est la vie, ya know. |

I have always been told that I was ugly as a child.
My parents never told me I was good looking, but they never much payed attention to me either. But schoolmates, and the like would always say I was ugly. Mostly becuase I was Asian, and during the 80's being Asian insufferably difficult in the deep south. While others laughed at Long Duck Dong or the various other sexless Asian comedic characters in the movies, I would cringe becuase it would only be seconds before the jokes went my way. I imagine for my sister it was difficult to grow up with "Me so hooonnneey". But I know exactly what it means to grow up thinking that your ugly. And moreover to think that your features are not as important as those of another race. It wasn't until my first blowjob that I realized I must be worth something. Thank goodness I was 11. I keed I keed.

I was always told that I was pretty by adults but all the kids always said I was ugly. Mostly because my hair wasn't straight.
Now most people say that I'm beautiful and that they love my hair. go figure. I've learned not to place too much importance on it only because it can be so subjective.
