Ohhh, Carrie. That happened to a friend of mine, too. She thought she needed to have her car jumped, and everything... bless your heart...

I used to run outta gas all the time. Not because my gas gage was not working but because I was always convinced that I had at least 10km more left in gas, even when the needle was buried below the E. Top of the E? Lots left! Middle of the E? Almost time to think about getting gas. Bottom of the E? Should probably get gas soon....but I always tried to go a little further. I've never actually run out, but I'm sure I've come very close. My current car has a little computer that tells you how many kilometers you've got left before you run out. Which is terribly clever, IF it's accurate. Is it? Someday I'll find out. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I've only ever run out of gas once, and thank God it was right at a gas station.
I didn't quite get to the pump (only a few feet away from having the hose reach), but someone helped me push the car close enough. Since then, I've never taken a chance on the gas needle.
