Actors have so much power in the industry now, they are producing their own and others' movies, as they are now some of the few who can afford it. They are in the power to decide what gets made and what doesn't. Basically the nation's cultural output depends on what actors want to do. It's all so meaningless. I was watching recently the extras on the DVD of Days Of Glory (Indigènes) and the director said ten years ago, the movie couldn't have been made because there weren't any big name French-Arab actors at the time to justify its budget. Today, however with Jamel Debbouze being such a big French star, once he signed on to play one of the soldiers and helped finance the film, everything else fell into place. So sometimes actors having a lot of power can be a good thing. But that's the thing that bugs me. Movies now completely rely on a big name star to get made. So that means, if there are no big name French-Arab actors (miracle there are any, the movie wouldn't get made. Think of all the films that don't get made because the American public doesn't know any big name actors of different ethnicities, and now they need Angelina Jolie to play a Cuban woman.

Johnny Depp. I've seen almost all of his movies. The only one I just couldn't finish was Ninth Gate. It sucked THAT much.
Oh, and Natalie Portman. She's amazing! [Edited 7/13/07 23:52pm] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Paris Hilton.
I saw her in this movie, it was about a hot dog eating contest, but it was hard to make out 'cause the director got all artsy-fartsy and shot through a fuzzy green filter. Watched the whole thing. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Steve Buscemi stars in a new film called Delirious which played at Sundance this year. He plays a sort of crazy, emotionally abusive paparrazi. There's a great scene where he gets thrown out of a party by Elvis Costello (who plays himself). I don't think it's in the theaters yet, but look out for it if you love Steve Buscemi.

And no one has mentioned Juliet Binoche I believe it's not difficult to get your indie film with no names out there. It's just a matter of how many people will see it. I was actually thinking about Juliet Binoche. I haven't seen her in anything awful. spelling [Edited 7/17/07 10:17am]
