A few months back, I went to see I Think I Love My Wife with a friend of mine (we used to get it on a little, back in the day). Anyhoo...

We went out for a "drink" after the show (I don't drink alcohol anymore, but you get the picture). There was a small combo playin' in the bar and I guess she asked me if I still played much. I told her that not only had I not picked up a guitar in a long while, but I really wasn't listening to that much music at all anymore.

At a certain point, the band went into William DeVaugn's "Be Thankful for What You Got". It'd been so long since I'd heard it, I wasn't even sure of the title. I'd forgotten how much I liked that song.

When I got home, I looked it up online and found the Massive Attack version on YouTube. It kinda just matched the mood I'd been (and remain) in. I think it started a while back when there were all those news reports about that woman who'd had a "face" transplant. There was a piece on CNN that featured a man who had an upper face prosthesis and I think it just shocked me into stopping my whining about petty things and getting the fuck on with it; appreciating all that I have. I added the little Pree-onse "YES" heart thingy a little while later, to make the meaning less ambiguous for those who aren't familiar with the song.

The MA version seems to be gone from YT, but here's the orig., for those who don't know it. It's a very summer-y tune:
