Nah...it can also lead to getting a good education, i.e. a medical degree or PhD, having a substantial income and a fulfilling career. Not that that necessarily leads to happiness for all people...but it can certainly be a life of passion and contribution...and when you're talking about "getting further in life" that means more to me than having the looks to marry a millionaire three times my age. Not to mention intelligence can lead to a deeper experience of life which I think is a good thing. Intelligence has serious drawbacks too -- knowledge can be hell/ignorance is bliss, isolation from society, the agony of thwarted potential -- but I wouldn't have it any other way. Given the right opportunities it can, it can be used productively or you could just self destruct. | |

I wouldn't want to become extremely intelligent overnight, because then there would be no challenge left to life.
