For the love of the Game,,, why I coach and love it.

I just got back from football practice. I love this time of year, mandatory practice time, the team is full of enthusiasm, you have your returnees, the new cats that you never knew were on campus, the sophmores, and the wide eyed incoming freshman. You get em all together and lecture them about discipline, pride, commitment, hard work. "Work Hard, To Be Hard, So we're Hard To Beat!" Then you get to it, workout stations. The mildew funk and dank of the weight room where the warriors prepare for battle. The steps that we run up and down for cardio. The clank of the iron on the weight racks. The sound of the heavy bag getting hit. Facing the winning side (home stands) and doing push ups on the hit! (hit! 1 sir! Hit 2 sir!) The sound of barf cause someone has given there all on the field. The helpful watergirls (mine are the best) doing there jobs and grilling the young men who try to hit on them that they are on the field, no flirting on the field. The sound of sprinting, passing, running! The feel of the warm synthetic field turf under your feet on a hot summer day.The various voices of the coaching staff. The parents in the stands watching little Johnny become a warrior. The journey of turning boys into gentlemen and scholars. Creating a team from individuals. Football We Love it!

Yes suicides are pretty awesome but I'd rather give you a big 3! Or maybe I can just have you do steps and squats and stand behind you! razz

clapping....Well said!

I coach my two youngest daughters' Soccer and Basketball teams and it is more rewarding than I ever thought. One of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I was actually down for a few days when the seasons ended last year.

While my girls are in much younger age groups (8/9 years and 6/7 years for Soccer and 4th/5th grade and 2nd/3rd grade for Basketball), there is nothing like teaching young kids how to win, and maybe more importantly how to lose. Teaching them what they can accomplish as a team and watching them achieve and grow more than they ever thought possible.

To watch them as their eyes light up when the do something they had no idea they could do. To watch them having fun. To watch them grow and learn while doing something positive and healthy!!!!!
"Always blessings, never losses......"

Ya te dije....no manches guey!!!!!

mad I'm a guy!!!!
