I must say it was quite the exciting affair. Rafael Nadal proved that he's not just a clay court phenomenon. However he ran into the Buzz saw that is Roger Federer who won his fifth straight Wimbledon and who I think deserves to hear his name as one of the best tennis players, if not the best tennis player ever. The only folks who I feel were even on his level were Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, and John McCenroe. Federer would waxed the floor with other greats like Ivan Lendl, Arthur Ash, Bjorn Borg, Pat Cash, and Jimmy Connors. What do you think?

I think you have got to be kidding me that you put Becker and Mcenroe over Borg, Borg was the greatest tennis player of the modern era, 5 wimbledon titles in a row, the last player to back to back French and Wimbledon..which he did 3 times on the bounce i add. He was an amazing player with charisma, style and a true gentleman. Mcenroe was a spoiled brat and Becker although quality early in his career at 17 and 18 lost it by the time he was 25 whereas Brog chose to retire at the top at just 25.Sampras was a spaz one trick serve volley merchant with only 2 brain cells.

IMHO wink

You know that I love you, but fishslap mr.green.
To even mention Borg and charisma in the same sentence rolleyes. It was just damn boring to watch him play, except he was playing soemone like McEnroe of course wink .
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Do you really think? With the old wooden rackets?

He's surely etching his name into the book of all time greats but I think you're doing players like Borg and Laver an injustice to make comparisons between eras.

You have to do comparison with eras. Its unfair but they do it in all sports. Boxing, everyone sizes up Ali to todays boxers, Basketball everyone sizes up Magic, Bird, and Jordan to the players of today. People always compare the old Brazil Pele Teams and Argentina Maradona Team to the World cup teams of today. Its just common. Why not do it in tennis?

When it comes to football(what Americans call soccer), the game hasn't really changed that much in the last 50 years. Comparisons can be made from generation to generation a lot more smoothly than with other sports. Remember Borg did try to make a come back in the mid 80's but refused to use the graphite rackets they used at the time. He insisted on bringing out his old wooden pieces of shit and got his ass waxed every time. Boris, Pete and Roger would have waxed his butt as well. Also remember that the way Roger has his rackets stringed these days was the reason for Ille Nastase's rackets were banned in the 70's. It gave him too much of an advantage over the competition. Crazy spin.
