I do ride it, but what would make me ride it more is schedule consistency. I want the same damned bus to be in the same place at the same time intervals 24/7/365. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I think the most reliable public transportation system I have ever been on was in the city of Portland. The great thing was most of it was free! The subway's get a little jacked up on the weekends when they're doing construction, but you just learn to check the service advisories. And they desperately need another line on the east side of Manhattan (which they're working on but it will take years to complete).
Some lines are better than others. I take the No. 36 bus to Parkchester(Bronx), and catch the 6 Express. Nothing but delays, even when I switch to the 4/5 Express at 125th street. Totally agree. I hate hate hate the L train. I used to live in Alphabet City and was going to grad school at Columbia. I had to walk 10 blocks to the L on 1st Ave, then take that to 6th Ave, switch to the 2/3 express to 96th, then the local to 116th. It would take me a good hour IF the trains were running right and that damn L line was always fucked up--either not running, only running in Brooklyn, delayed, or something. So I'd get to the subway station and find out I needed to take the 14th street bus, which took FOREVER. (And then, of course, I'd be late for class!) To this day I HATE the L!!

Rotten It's not that bad...try taking public transportation from Long Beach to downtown LA and then an LA city bus. That shit's bad. The things I didn't like about the trains (CTA) when I lived there were:
2. it doesn't run frequently enough (buses too) I think they should build a train line that forms a "C" shape and connects all the lines together. The way it is now, to get from Belmont (red line) to Milwaukee/North/Damen (blue line) you either have to take the red line all the way downtown and then back out to Milwaukee/North/Damen, or take a bus part way. I don't see that happening anytime soon, though. The best thing about Chicago mass transit is that you can take it to both airports. I wish they had that in New York! Instead I always have to spend at least $40 on cabs ($20+ each way to/from LaGuardia) each time I fly. But overall, New York's public transportation is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. The subway's get a little jacked up on the weekends when they're doing construction, but you just learn to check the service advisories. And they desperately need another line on the east side of Manhattan (which they're working on but it will take years to complete). I actually take the bus to work. I prefer the bus because it's less smelly, you can look out the windows, and it drops me off closer to work (b/c of where I live & where I work, taking the subway wouldn't really be any faster). If I'm going farther or don't have as much time I'll take the subway, but otherwise I like the bus. Then I walk home from work most nights. It takes about 45 minutes, which is only 10 minutes longer than my morning commute, and it's just over a mile. I take it you haven't rode it in a while Trust me friend Its rotten here... I can give detail, but I'll get mad all over again

You could go anywhere/anytime in the city using public transportation. In comparison, now that I live in L.A., i'd say, "What public transportation?". Yes, there's Metro Link but the coverage and time schedules are extremely limited. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
