Ipod anger - alternative please! Ok, so I have been putting my ipod software onto a new laptop which then wiped my library and ipod ....grrrrr! I have got it backed up but have had it with ipods and have no idea how to transfer my music on my external hard drive back onto my ipod.
Am I just being stupid or is there an alternative. I remember another thread about this a while back which suggested alternatives. Should I just go for a Sony as my ipod is an ipod mini (old and no-longer available). Is this the future?

You have PLENTY of choices. No they don't "sync" like iPod, But I think that's an issue with the iPod. It should be drag and drop. PERIOD. I don't know why they can't do this.
Checkout Creative Zens..or iRiver products. They come in a variety of sizes and colors. Works like an external HD. You drag and drop and it'll do the rest. The only thing iPod has over these other products is accessories and compatibility with things like docking stations in cars etc. However given that iTunes codes your music as well as new music you get from their store is ONLY iTune and iPod friendly, I say FUDGE EM and get something that's way cheaper and more efficient, I think. It's easy! Search and substitute iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml from your old comp to the new one. Then just plug the external hard drive Open iTunes and in Advanced, General, change the default iTunes folder for the folder in your external hard drive where the music is, e.g. E:\My Music\iTunes That's all [Edited 7/6/07 11:36am]

Go into preferences in itunes and turn off anything that says "automatic" sync or anything else. Then grab all of your music and drag it (from where you keep it) onto the library in the open window of itunes. Pretty basic.

What are you on about? Ipods do manual or sync, just hit whichever option pleases you. If you've ever used an Apple you'll know they're all about the drag and drop! _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

Get a SAMSUNG K3
This is the best little gadget I've ever bought, and the smallest, thinest, coolest looking mp3 player out there.
