I have a gateway MT6710 Lap top. I love it. Comes with a 160 Gb Hard drive and Dvd/cd burner. Its very lightweight and compact and is a reasonable buy at arount 650 bucks. I use it for grades, practice plans, burning certain videos for lectures. It rocks.Plus it comes wih internal wi - fi!

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC- love it so far. I have had it for 9 months now. It has a built in Wifi thingy too.
I paid about $600.
I wish I got me a laptop a long time ago- great for traveling...

Mine is great for music, movies that sort of thing. It also has a little remote.

The HP Pavillion dv2000 series are really popular and lightweight with a 14.1" widescreen. It can get a little expensive if you try to buy it from HP website, so I would suggest finding one at a electronic retail chain store who tend to have them for $200-$300 less than HP. I just bought a dv6000 series which is the same as the 2000 except it boasts a 15.4" widescreen among other things for about $950, which may be a little to expensive for you, but was about $500 less than I had expected to spend. It's not as lightweight so it's not really built for everyday travel back and forth to class if that's what he's looking for. Just thought I'd give you a more thorough review of these laptops biggrin
