Can you live without a cell phone?

I am proud to say that I am not "connected".
No cell phone, no PDA, no Blackberry, not even a beeper.

...and I like it that way.

My wife has a cell phone, and when we go on trips it can be life-saving.

But for everyday use, I'm OK with people leaving messages on my machine.
If I'm out, I am OUT. That applies to work as well. My company hasn't given me a cell phone, and I'm hoping that they don't. Alot of clients can't believe that I don't have a cell.
shrug ...leave a message, beeatch!

I can not live with out my cell phone. It's my way of keeping in touch with my kids when they are out. Plus I love text messaging my friends.

i think owning a cell phone makes you dependent on it. i do think you can live without a cell phone, but by the same token, i think you can own one and use it minimally.

i use mine mostly if i'm running late for something or meeting up with someone and i can't find them, etc. it's not something i use for entertainment or social funsies. a cell phone is like a screwdriver or a flashlight to me - it's something i have and i use it when i need it. that rule has become a LITTLE lax over this year, but not by much. then again, i hate talking on phones in general, so there's that too. lol

I use mine mostly as a mobile answering machine with my teens being on the go, so I just know where they are and when they will return home. I do not talk on it much at all and I don't text at all either

Probably not...but you might develop RSI.
Almost four million Britons suffer from text-related injuries, according to Virgin Mobile. Its report follows recent warnings about BlackBerry Thumb and iPod Finger. Listen to your body, say the experts: numb fingers and aching wrists are a signal to stop. RSI, the symptoms of which include pain and immobility in the joints, nerves and muscles from the fingers to the neck, is caused by repetitive movements and fatigue resulting from natural stresses and strains on the body.

No sad

My kids are always calling me on my cell. This is the only way to know where my 14 year old is at all times.
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I can not live without my cell phone! I am always out and about running errands and what not, and I love that my kids and husband are not far away if they need me. Another big plus is when we go to the mall...everyone goes there own way and we call each other to tell one another where we can be found..what do we want for lunch, whatever. Point is, I need my phone.

I just like doing it...I have one friend who rarely talks on the phone, he is never on the puter...so it's my way of keeping in touch with him. And it's easy for my son to get ahold of me when he is in class.

I HATE TEXT MESSAGES... I started seeing a guy who couldn't keep himself from texting all day. I called it off.

Sure, but why would I want to?

I needed to trim my bills, and I gave up high-speed internet to keep my phone (only to find that my neighbor has an open network thumbs up!).

I hardly ever talk on the thing. People who call me get my voicemail 95% of the time. I just don't like chatting on the phone.

But I text message with a few people regularly, and I get email on my phone, which I use to send reminders to myself throughout the day and whatnot. It has mapping software, so I have map wherever I go. I love being able to get movie times and phone numbers of restaurants and stores and stuff when I'm out and about. I can google random trivia. I have stuff to read while I'm waiting in lines. It ain't called a Crackberry for nothin'. lol

No landline here. Hard for me to imagine a more pointless way to spend money.

we have to have a landline, our cells barely pick up out where we live, and the cable company will only allow so much cable from the road. In other words, our only other option for internet ( other than landline) is satellite.. sad

I don't have one, have never had one, and wouldn't take one if you gave it to me for free. There are times that I don't want to be bothered and, if you have a cell phone, you have no excuse to tell people that you didn't want to be bothered with, why you didn't answer the phone.

A few facts I just read about cell phones...

*In July, 3 BILLION cell phones will be active...half of the entire world's population.

*It took 20 years for the first Billion customers to sign up...

*It took 2 years for the next Billion customers to get hooked up....

*It only took 1 year for the next Billion customers to sign up...

If you have kids, and both parents are working, a cell phone is almost a
necessity. call

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
